Gold Crown 1 Sub Rail modification.

Why tag him? He's just going to come on yelling.

I offered to help a local older lady by moving a table she wanted for free, and his tirade about me being a hack was profound, because I wasn't "finishing the job" and other stream of consciousness nonsense

Expect more of the same, every post now is him just ranting

His ego has far outgrown his usefulness
Because he’s knowledgeable and knows the answer. I’ve not had any issues with Glen. I know many have, but I haven’t. I’ve spoken on the phone with him a few times for some advice on my table and ball polisher and he was very accommodating; more than willing to share his knowledge.

I know you had an experience full of sunshine with him, but many many more have not

The ranting I referenced was just two days ago on Facebook, I'm not even digging into all of his bad dealings, but I raise caution because you're suggesting a new poster call on a cobra that is actually full of venom

Not sure how having someone knowledgeable provide the recommended bevel angle for Gold Crown I rails is so out of bounds. I‘ve not seen your recommendation of someone to provide the info. If you‘ve got someone better, ante it up. It’s easy to throw stones and complain, but do you have an alternate solution? I was not aware you‘ve been scared for life because of your interaction with someone on the internet. It’s been my experience in dealing with people from all walks of life and personalities throughout my career, you reap what you sow.

I would recommend Jack Zimmerman over Glen everyday and twice on Sundays, He's a stand-up guy, very sharp, doesn't move into your house and take a 2-day job and make it a two-week job, and he's just overall more pleasant to deal with.

I know you're an arrogant snob, but I'm surprised that your post took such a turn though, how does offering an old lady free labor reap unfiltered vitriol from a gypsy pretending to be a table mechanic? Your extreme focus on a single Gold Crown somehow entitles you to be a judge of humanity, I understand

Go play with your Gold Crown, no hard feelings

Hello fellas! What are the exact measurements in modifying the subrails on a Gold Crown 1 for Artemis cushions? Thanks!

Contact Jack, he is great to talk to. If you decide you're nervous about taking on the work, his rates are also very reasonable

I just reworked my late production GC1 that had some of the updates like floating nut plates, levelers etc. I replaced the original dried out superspeed cushions with new ones and didn't touch the sub-rail angle and it plays great, banks as it should. If you have any interest in DIY and don't want to attempt a sub-rail mod you'll likely be fine as I was. On the other hand if you pay RKC to do it might was well get it tweaked perfect. Just saying it's not really a 100% required modification as some make it sound.
I appreciate your input my man. I just might go with that. What kind of cloth?

That‘s all you had to do from the get go.

I’ve never been accused of being arrogant, quite the opposite, actually.

Sounds like a plan.

I would probably stick with the original Monarch Superspeeds before installing a cushion that doesn't match the one you are taking off. Monarch Superspeed profile cushions are no longer made, that's why most people have their sub-rails modified, to use a current available profile and tighten up their pockets. If I didnt tighten my pockets up to 4 1/2" I wouldn't have changed the Monarch Superspeeds on my GC!, they were perfect. You might get away installing a current cushion on your table without modifying the sub-rails, it all depends on what you expect out of your table. If you want you table to play its best and you replace the cushions you will need to modify the sub-rails, replacing cushions without modifying the sub-rails may get you a satisfactory playing table if you are lucky.

FYI here is my original Superspeed cushions versus the new.

Thank you very much for the information brother.

Wouldn't they be guaranteed to be rock hard after all these years?
The older rubber was really well made, I have pulled Monarchs off that still felt incredibly nice

I also found an Anniversary that lived in an open-air garage in California for 78 years and the cushions were hard enough to use as jackhammer tips

Since they were actual rubber, they held up very well if properly stored
