I don't like 100 attention whores saying Hi from (insert wgaf location here), just to get their names verbalized on the stream. The chat is a necessary evil on YouTube. The algorithm massively rewards engagement vs passive viewing.
Anecdotally this event is great for creating pool fans. Some folks who play in my local room were in town for the USAPL ten ball team event at the Rio. They spent some time at Griff's and came back giddy about how close they were to the pros and how accessible the event was. Some of them sought out the stream for the first time.
I understand when he's streaming from Hard Times, because that's a large group of players and fans from the area who most likely know each other.
That stuff looks much sillier on the national stage. I am old and don't care to understand the celebrity status of gamers among their global nerd followings.
If that's how things are these days then so be it. As mentioned, I still watch and like the streams and appreciate the effort involved.
There are more streamers from all over popping up every month or so it seems. They are doing (pool) God's work.
