Beware of this thief stealing here on this Forum.

Several months ago I posted how I was looking for a BreakRak

I received an email from a person who identified himself by giving the info from a very respectable person on the site well known as a BreakRak seller.
He says he’ll sell me a BreakRak pro for $300. He even sent a picture.
I agreed but said I’d pay half until received and he agreed. He’d only take Zelle for some reason. I got lots of his emails until I asked for a tracking number. All of a sudden he disappeared. It was only $150 but I’m pissed.
Beware of his email addresses, they are:
Hotrotrabbit@aol.com
Joshualeehana@gmail.com

Please feel free to contact this thief as often as you like to ask him anything you wish. If this criminal gets enough stuff in his inbox he just might quit his scams. Anyone getting email here saying he will sell you what you have listed as wanting, try to get his phone number or other info.
Your help is greatly appreciated and may think he, or other scammers to think twice before stealing money from our members.
There is no doubt he is the thief. He sent his last email saying he was laughing that he stole my money. Share his emails with all your contacts to make them safe against him too.

I recently inquired about two cues for sale on Facebook with separate sellers. It became obvious to me after just one message exchange that I was dealing with scammers. I think that Facebook is loaded with crooks concerning internet sales. Unfortunately for you, buyer beware has become a mandatory rule that must be adhered to as strictly as possible.
I agree that Paypal G&S for unknown sellers is really the only safe route for some sort of buyer protection. There are trusted sellers here, and Ebay does provide some semblance of buyer protection, although not truly 100%.
The internet buyer simply must do much more research on unknown sellers than most people are willing to invest, and that results in many sales ending poorly as you experienced. Obtaining verifiable address of the unknown seller upfront in order to do a thorough internet search of that person is a start- obtaining verifiable phone numbers is also another mandate for unknown sellers- IMO.

Hate thieves but by now we all should know the web is slam full of them.

There are ways to protect ourselves or at least minimize the risk and if we choose to gamble on someone and lose, then can't be surprised.

Pretty sure the mods put up a sticky warning about this exact thing at the top of the Wanted Forum.

Unfortunately putting up a want ad is going to draw a lot of scammers. It's telling the scammers that you have money that you are willing to part with. It's an easy scam to run it seems. One ham radio forum I belong to has restricted the want ads to small parts with lower values, trying to keep it under $100. No one can even view the for sale or want ads unless they are a paid subscriber to the website. Those two forums are behind a paywall that certainly helps.

some people will always get taken that is their way of life. that is what makes the world go around.
trying to protect someone from themselves is a waste of time. yet so many are devoted to it.

I'm a member of a shotgun forum. You're not allowed to buy, sell or pm members (not activated) until you have 25 meaningful posts. You have to contribute, no fluff, and it's policed by the admins. Solicitations to buy or sell before you are somewhat vetted by the post rule get taken down with warnings. The policy isn't foolproof, nothing is, but it's another roadblock to scammers. There's a new member on there now dying to buy what looks like a good deal but he can't. Of course he's getting his balls broken by old time members for trying to get to the post count, lol, just like he would here if we had that policy.

a good way to buy things online is to ask them to meet you at the police station, do the exchange there and you are on camera. If the item is too far to actually meet and you dont know the person then it's probably a good idea to give it a pass. I wouldn't buy a cue I can't examine, or a car. those are things I can buy locally.

whats interesting to me also is a friend bought a breakrak off amazon the whole package and somehow it cost 800 bucks when thats not even the price from the breakrak website
and hasnt been shipped in a month

when i looked on amazin for the breakrak i couldnt find one

he can probably get his money back through amazon but wow wee
whats going on lol

i was also looking for a used breakrak if anyone has one

I have a breakrak pro in great condition, it's the one that fits any size table. I would let it go for $350 + fees and shipping
Check my feedback, or ask anyone I've dealt with. Zero issues here!

There are warnings on the Wanted/For Sale subforum reminding people not to post direct contact information with their posts. They still do it though.

Ah, thanks for that. I guess there are some drawbacks to that setting. I think anyone that "follows" me will be able to see it. Here's a screenshot for anyone else.

You can check them out like this if they’re hiding their profile.

When you click on their name the first time, on the left it says “messages” and the number of posts they’ve made on here.

Click on the number and you can see all the posts they’ve made on here.

No way to not make that accessible. 👍🏻

Question though… why are you selling your breakRak? Is it that you already received maximum benefit from it, or that you never liked it and didn’t use it?

Asking as someone else who makes training aids.
