Git gud.Diamond rails are so far off the norm over the past 75 years of pool. They didn't know what the hell they were doing, and we ended up with pin-ball machine rails. Now a bunch of players are used to them and think it's how pool is supposed to be. Sorry/not sorry for sticking to my guns.
Agree.I had to quote something and this was the closest about this.
Since Diamond started back in the late 80’s they’ve had a different version just about every single year.
Its still going on.
Red Label, Blue Label, Black Label. Different cushions, different heights within each cushion, different heights within each label, different pocket sizes within each label, different pocket angles within each label.
Then it’s rinse and repeat with the different sizes.
Its endless.![]()
Some things were/are nice but there’s way too many modifications. I understand they had to keep fixing problems but you’d think after almost 40 years now most of the kinks would be worked out.Agree.
And the funny part is all they had to do was copy Brunswick, who had spent the prior 140 years figuring it all out.

Or we can keep complaining and maybe one day Diamond will actually fix it. Doubtful.my choice isnt to play on a diamond. but you have to play on whats available if you must play or where the action is if you gamble.
I’m not insane. Where should I play when half the rooms closed down the past 10 years, and the half remaining are mostly diamond? I have a GC4 in my house. But in rooms it’s mostly Diamonds now. Ps I play fine on them. I just got 3rd in a tournament last week on them.Perhaps you can provide some clarity here for I am failing to understand your plight. If you don't like the way Diamond tables play, why do you continue to play on them? Do you know what insanity is? I'll enlighten you: Continuing to execute the same task over and over and expecting a different result. Are you are insane, or do you just like to complain? Maybe a little of both? Do us all a favor. Stop playing on Diamonds or stop complaining about Diamonds.
Why? I think the time has come.I just happen to have not shut up about it.
WE GOT IT. Believe me we got it. Bitch to Diamond. Please. Welcome back to ignore. For good this time. This shit is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past tiring.I’m not insane. The rails are not right, and have never been right. There are many very experienced players in this thread alone with the same opinion. I just happen to have not shut up about it.
But it kinda does Dr scienceCould you all please quit stating the cue ball picks up speed off the rail. It is a physical impossibility for this to happen. Brian.
Thank you. This is probably the most accurate assessment -- Diamond has changed their recipe over and over.
Playing on Diamonds is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna to get.

Ya, and the Earth's flat. Brian. But it kinda does Dr science
lol good one bill nighyYa, and the Earth's flat. Brian.
In a straight into the cushion rolling contact without side spin, the cue ball loses somewhere around 40% to 45% of its speed. That's actually pretty inefficient but it's what we're used to. If the cue ball loses only 30% of its speed it will seem like it's spring loaded.Could you all please quit stating the cue ball picks up speed off the rail. Are they one piece or doweled together?I guess I'm not understanding the comments of, way too many modifications, or changed their recipe over and over. The only thing I know of was the rail angle change, I think it was, from the red label to the blue label. I know there is two cushions now, one for the 7 & 8 ft tables and one for the 9 ft tables. Not sure if the red label used the current cushions. Just doesn't sound like that many modifications or changing their recipe over and over to me. I really like the fact their side rails are one piece. If there has been more than these couple changes, I'd be interested in knowing.
How old are all of these gold crowns' rails that you are comparing all diamonds to?I’m not insane. diamond rails are multi-piece like butcher block. Diamond themselves have told me this is one of the main reasons they bank faster, the rails are stiffer than one-piece like those on GC's. I've played on quite a few blue-label pro ams and i just don't get the reaction/outrage by some players. Are they different than GC's?? Yep but its not a big deal adjusting to it. Well, for some i guess. Others would rather devote years of their life whining about it.Are they one piece or doweled together?
What about balls hitting at an angle like a natural 3rail? I guess that would be spin-dependent?In a straight into the cushion rolling contact without side spin, the cue ball loses somewhere around 40% to 45% of its speed. That's actually pretty inefficient but it's what we're used to. If the cue ball loses only 30% of its speed it will seem like it's spring loaded.
Yes, the cue ball always loses speed when going straight into a cushion. I think that's true even for balls with a lot of side spin.
