Cue stick stroke with a spin.

No. You turn your wrist as you stroke. It is a center strike on the cue. What the shooter try’s to do is have the chalk “grab” the cue ball , creating the ball to spin. Like the hands of a clock spinning the ball not by English perse. But by the friction created by spinning the shaft on impact and in turn spinning the cue ball
plz sell all your shit an go play video games....

Say you are cutting the ball to the left with running spin. The CB is spining counter clockwise from the english on the x axis, but you are also adding clockwise rotation on the Y axis. Plus the forward momentum of the ball going too, maybe the Z axis. Nothing good can come from this. And highly not repeatable

Let the Doctor explain the wackoness of this

If, and this is one BIG fkng IF, you could spin the cue at say 100+ rpm's you MIGHT get some results but just spinning it in your hand isn't gonna do shit to the cb. Even then it would be so tiny because contact time is less than the blink of an eye. The whole idea is just ludicrous. I love playing people that believe this kinda malarkey takes place.

Fwiw I don’t play video games. I shootpool and play golf. Outside with clubs and spinning the shit out of that ball.

Rotating the stick to angle the cue (to hit off center) works, but isn’t very consistent or controlled and probably limits the range of spin amounts available.

To learn and use spin effectively you should hit the CB on a precise spot for what you want to accomplish - that’s best done with a perfectly straight stroke (no wrist movement) aimed straight at the preselected CB spot (at the correct angle to compensate for squirt/swerve/throw).

that's just crazy talk

You’re misremembering.

If you are dead straight on a shot, you are not in a million years moving the CB sideways one foot, even if you are Efren Reyes. Regardless of any voodoo you think you’re doing with your stroke.

Unless you are doing a jacked up masse trick shot.

Ok guys point(s) taken. I appreciate all the replies. Even the sarcastic ones. When I was a younger man I admit I tried doing what is described here. Foolish ? Eh mebbe. But worth a shot. Pun intended.

I have some closeup videos of earl strickland playing when he came to my area last summer. In my videos from behind him, i noticed that he does this. He twists his hand/wrist some when he strikes the cueball. I pointed it out and talked to some strong players who were also there and they found it very interesting that earl does that and they had never noticed.

Or was questioned on it for that matter. At the very least thank god I’m not the only one.

Now getting to be on Mr. Strickland’s level ?? Next lifetime I suppose 😂
