Is a 3/8x14 Cuetec Joint Just A Normal 3/8x14?

Been thinking of lightening my load in my case and instead of carrying a full backup cue just getting a cheap shaft for my Cuetec instead. Cuetec says the Avis joint is a "3/8x14 Cuetec Joint" Is that just a standard 3/8x14 joint or something a little different just on a Cuetec? Thanks!

I have only heard of one cue maker that uses a 3/8-14 pin, Bender maybe. I don't know if shafts work out of the box interchangeably.

Nope… my DPK 3/8-14 was slightly different. Iirc it was a different minor diameter.

Depending on the shaft you buy might or might not.

But many aftermarket are set up for cuetec, its fitting an aftermarket on a custom that can be a problem

Thanks! I'll stick to my other plan of getting a cheap shaft for my break cue then.

No. The minor is much smaller than the standard 3/8-14 measurements.

A 3/8×14 is just that. There is a difference, though, with the size of the joint. Newer Cuetec cues have a wider joint.

Bender, Cuetec, Esoteric and of course Omega.

There are two different joint diameters. Avid shaft is a good shaft and a bargain. If your cue tec butt is older it has a different joint size than a new avid. I am pretty sure, but not absolutely sure you can get an avid shaft for either, but have to get the right joint size

Didn’t we just discuss this? Yes sir that 3/8 x 14 caused me to not buy from Rhino.

I thought about buying from Rhino and they played games trying to convince me their 3/8 x 14 shaft would fit a Bender.

It won’t…

Yes that’s true. With them they did know but did not feel like giving me a straight answer.
I gave them the full measurements of the Bender pin and they offered to sell me a pin measuring tool. Ie a joint protector.

Finally they admitted their pin is identical to Cuetecs pin. Since I owned a Cuetec I measured it, confirmed it was different then tried to screw a Cuetec onto the Bender.
You know how that went..

Their lack of cooperation put me off and helped me decide to reconsider doing business with them.

To my knowledge,
Which doesn't mean DIDDLY
The only available supplier of the Cuetec joint screw and insert is AliExpress. Never bought from them but it's on thier web site!
