How long would it be ok to leave cue in car in hot humid weather?

A lot of times I have appointments before getting to league night and was wondering if a cue could warp in that amount of time or not. I feel like I'm safe because when they ship they're in hot humid delivery trucks all day. Just curious. Thanks as always!

I've had maybe two shafts warp in 40yrs and each time it was poor wood and not the conditions. If its in a good case for a couple hrs nothing will happen.

about 25 years ago, a league teammate left his Meucci in his car during the day in Atlanta summer heat before league night and it popped all the inlays in the butt. Still playable but you could feel the damage running you hand over the cue. He was sick about it, had the cue about 4 months and never thought this would cause damage. Your mileage may vary.

Different materials expand and contract at different rates. Changes in temperature and moisture need to be moderated. 20240827_075616.jpgThis was my case in Seattle Tacoma riding a motorcycle. Works good in the car too. Just put it on the floor and cover with a blanket. When changing temperature....be gentle. On cold mornings my ivory ferrule gets warmed by the fingers before hitting balls. 🤷‍♂️

Someone made me a cue with a house cue and it was left in my garage for 2 years.

I took it out recently and rolled it on the concrete. It played the drums.

Temperature does affect a cue so beware. It is never good to leave in hot and cold temps. I even let the cue stand on the claw for a few minutes before playing. I let it get acclimated to the temp of the room before banging balls with it.

I can't imagine high heat not having some effect on cues.Lol, but I usually leave my bag in tbe back of my Blazer. If it's an expensive cue, I will bring it in on suspect days.
sure if you leave it there yr 'round. A few hrs here-n-there won't hurt anything. i live in Okla and its humid and hot as fk in the summer. I've left Blacks, JOSS(both), Scruggs, Schons just to name a few in my car for hrs at a time. Never had any issues. A schmelke sneaky, a Players and i think an old ADAM were the only cues i've ever owned that warped and it wasn't due to heat/humidity exposure. Just bad wood.

Pete Sr. told wood can move with a 2 degree change. He told me to never leave the cues iin the car and to try and maintain consistent temps. I have had cues warp in the heat of a trunk. I have had shafts warp in my house becuase the case was in direct sunlight through a window.

It defintely happens. Some people have good luck, some bad. I dont leave my cues in the car or sun since i have bad luck. If i have league after work, i bring my case into work and it sits beside my desk.

I hate bringing my cues to work because that involves explaining to people.

I'm now using a leather JB case and someone was admiring it and I overheard them say it looks like a sniper case. So I'm worried people think they are rifles especially in today's climate.
