Tournament "Top Lady"

In your local tournaments where the women compete against the men,

How do you define & pay top lady?

Same as DDC, the lady that finishes the highest. That puts an even larger element of luck in top lady than the main event but that is how I see it done. Sometimes top lady is the top lady. Sometimes she got lucky and might have had a by and then a soft run.

Tournaments in general are somewhat luck. I got two bys and found myself in the hotseat my first or second match in one local event!

In this day & age of when even a supreme court justice can't define what a woman is, I wouldn't have a clue...

When you are right, you are right! I will volunteer to take a look before tournaments to give an informed opinion though. If it looks like a woman, feels like a woman, and slaps like a woman, odds are it is a woman!

Here's the situtation from Saturday night. Top lady prize money is $60

With 4 players left in the tournament, half of those spots belonged to the ladies.

Those ladies finished 4th & 3rd.

The Top Lady pot was split equally between the two.

So what was your issue with that? It seems quite fair, as the last woman standing was a tie of two women.

You really think it's a tie?

The woman that finished 3rd played for the hot seat.

The woman that finished 4th was put in the losers bracket first round of a 16 player bracket.

There is a tie for 7th & 8th along with 5th & 6th - not for 3rd & 4th.

Well you keep adding a snippet of info each post.... ha ha. 3/4th place is a tie in single elim, but not double elim. The "Top Lady" should be the top finisher unless tied. If 3rd was indeed separate from 4th in this particular format, then only 3rd should have gotten "Top Lady".

Do you have a flyer for the event to see the actual wording?

If you are hosting a tourney where the top two ladies come in third and fourth, you shouldn't have a top lady prize.
So are you in the camp that would go with Top Lady that doesn't finish in the money?

Plenty of capable men including a 690 Fargo didn't make the money.

Sometimes shit happens when the balls start flying.

No flyer, it's just a weekly tournament.

3rd is always separate from 4th in a dbl elmination 16 player bracket.

This TL shit is dying off due to Fargo. Some little bar events may still do it. Hey, if they wanna play with the boys deal with gettin your ass beat. Its basically a 'woke' bullshit participation prize.

If it was an extreme anomaly for one of the females to get in the money, doing a top female is fine, but third is third and is higher than fourth.

If females place in the money relatively often, then there should be no top lady prize.

I have to assume that it is an incentive to get female players, in which case you should offer a discounted entry, or ask the venue to support with drink discounts or similar.
