History behind your Avatar

Last name is Acree and in the early 2010's when I became an 8 in APA, my team started calling me 8cree, I like it and it stuck, besides, 9cree doesn't work as well now ;)

The pic is from a local company that supports fishing, outdoors and good clean living, I like to think I try to do all of those things.... some better than others ha

damn, i always thought it was walter from the big lebowski. i read on a phone, so avatars are small

Once this was the playground of Allen Doug Winslow. Perhaps, his name was as hard to pin down as most things about him. SmorgassBored would do most anything for a friend and most on the forum were his friends. I usually let perhaps his best friend, JoeyA, speak of most things Smorg but this is explaining my avatar.

This was in the days of the rep hoarding and rep wars. It was also the days when Smorg's health was declining rapidly and I was glad to play if it brightened his day a little. Aside from hoarding points and passing them out to friends, it was also possible to have red rep runs. Never started one myself but I would get a PM from Smorg, a quick check yes somebody disserved it, and we all started painting red! Funny how upset people would get about red rep and red rep runs usually didn't stop until somebody lost all of their green!

I don't remember how Smorg's posse got organized. Motto was to spice and serve I believe. The eight on the badge represents where I happened to be on the rep totem pole when I made the avatar. All of Doug's posse or gang got a badge, I modified mine by putting my smiling face from around 1988 in the middle.

Obviously in honor of the greatest poster I have seen on here and when we lost Doug I promised myself I would keep this avatar as long as I was on AZB.

The old timers will never forget Doug, newcomers should look up the story about Doug winning a "Bob". Doug had endless stories. Surprisingly, most were true!

I had a chance to visit with Smorg in early 2005 -- he was quite the character:

I just want to thank Smorg for his gracious hospitality on my recent Tampa run. Not only did he get the pool room opened up early for me (two days running), there was fresh coffee and donuts waiting. Yee ha!

For two days, we battled it out on different tables (I couldn't fade Smorg's favorite and insisted we switch). After all the woofing and kibitzing, it turns out Smorg is even money at 10-6. For anyone else heading thataway: don't believe the man's BS -- he dances around the table like Astaire (or at least like Ginger : -) and has a great touch.

Thanks, Smorg!

His retort:
Oh, and Lou F., let me not forget Lou Figueroa. Lou F. gave me 10-6 and beat me 10 to -3, 10 to -2, 10 to -3 and a whole bunch of "close" games of 10-0. Lou beat me SO badly, that I haven't played ANY pool of ANY kind for the past SIXTEEN MONTHS.

Doug
( I've forgotten everything that I ever thought I knew about pool and if the river cards keep breaking it off in my rectum, I might give up Poker TOO........ dammit ! )

My initials are pt….anytime I left a note I would sign off with my initials so people started calling me pt….I was hanging out at an English billiard club for a while and the owner started calling me pt109.…so when I joined AZ in 2009, JFK pic became my avatar.
I‘m a Canuck but JFK was so popular up here that he could’ve become our prime minister also. We had Canadian comics do stand-up that he loved listening to…they loved doing his Boston accent….on one of the shows, the guy doing JFK was asked what he thought about Toronto achieving floridation…he replies “Let me say this about that….I am pleased that Toronto has decided to join the state of Florida.”
Canada mourned his loss as much as the USA.

The guy shooting pool was my grandfather. The guy seated behind him was my father. Like Jeff Sonnett, I am the third generation gunslinger in my family. No brag, just fact.

My username was the name of my sailboat back when I started accounts at eBay and Amazon. I kept the name so people could check out my feedback on those sites. The sailboat was sold 15 years ago.

Mine is one of my Wife's Olde English Bulldogges, his name is Hooch. He was just out of surgery getting his Pallet and Nostrils repaired to aid in his breathing. He looked pissed. When I got the bill, I inturn was pissed. He's 100% worth it though......sometimes. Brian.

I have had a lot of dogs that were priceless. A good thing too, could I have put a price on them there were times I might have taken them down to the river and shot them! Of course my best running buddy from my mid teens up into my mid twenties was a red chow. He couldn't play pool but he could turn a cue into kindling in less time than it takes to type about it!

Damn, now I miss my buddy and I don't even have a picture.

When I'm not playing pool I'm fishing. When I'm not fishing I'm playing pool.
The name SmoothStroke was given to me by others. I can't make one in a row
with ball in hand but at least it's smooth.
I own the name before John Morra he is an imposter.

Do you flyfish? Great to smooth out a stroke and develop rhythm. Always thought it was a bit snobbish thing to do but it sure is fun. Once you halfway master it, a great way to catch fish too.

Yes sir I do, double haul with either hand, tie my own flies. I'm not snobby I'm ok with walking in tuna blood.
I also like shooting but nowhere near your class, I can hit the barn.

I’m disappointed by this. I always picture you fishing a southern swamp or some snit and pulling out 8 pound bass on an average. I thought “Cree” was a term that meant average.

You know what. I’m going to forget I read your blurb. You are a bass assassin.

Walk into any pool hall in Florida and folks will talk about the nameless road agent who looked like he just came out of the fish shack. “He tried to bet me 3 pounds of Peacock Bass against my 50 dollars in a best of 5.

“Hit the balls with the bass akwards end of a cork handle fishing rod and robbed me blind. Left me a couple fillets though.”

You are a long ways ahead of me flyfishing and I have never done any tying. I have met quite a few flyfishermen that weren't snobs, a couple ladies too. Met a few snobs and read a few things that kind of left a bad impression. While there are a few fly fishers down here it isn't as common as other things.

My brother always wanted to catch a bull red on a fly rod out in the marsh but one of those things he never got around to. His health and time probably prevents it now. We used to go limit out on reds out of a canoe using bass fishing bait casters, my weapon of choice. Some of those reds could drag the canoe nicely. The person in the other end of the canoe had to guide things and the reds were good for maybe three or four runs before they wore down.
