History behind your Avatar

I change my avatar often but this is the one I like the most. Pool table layout in a 100' x 100' foot building leaving plenty of room for the bar / club area.

Walk into any pool hall in Florida and folks will talk about the nameless road agent who looked like he just came out of the fish shack. “He tried to bet me 3 pounds of Peacock Bass against my 50 dollars in a best of 5.

“Hit the balls with the bass akwards end of a cork handle fishing rod and robbed me blind. Left me a couple fillets though.”

On YouTube I’m Eric Petersen on another message board from 99 I’ve been LV Eric.

The Fatboy thing here is my real nickname in pool, I have never hid behind it. I understand some people want privacy and that’s cool too.

Don’t take me fishing. I’m the biggest jinx in the world when it comes to fishing. I always liked it but never caught a fish. Friends take me and tell me it’s a lock, we’ll have a great day. The fish know I’m there and just leave. 😕

fab944 has been my screen name for almost 40 years. my initials and first porsche i bought.
picture was a group shot of my JOSS cues (I just love the old ones).
funny thing is, almost all of the cues i have are also 40 years or older. they just feel comfortable when i shoot.

We have a plan for dark clouds on board.
The only lock when you come fishing with me is we eat like kings and ball busting is automatic.
Sashimi, Sushi, is not best fresh caught, it’s ok but not great. Rest it for a day on ice.
No women, children, alcohol, drugs allowed.

You need to keep trying. Nothing like it. Try snapper fishing on a newly found wreck or drifting the grass beds at Chandeleur Island -- either one will make anyone both a real fisherman and a true believer.

Miami Bowl was the place to go for action when I was 18. I first saw Don Feeney there doing a small exhibition around 1978. He had a guy with him that could spin a top like a magician. Big stuff for a teenager that loved Pool. The Gold Crowns looked and played gigantic compared to my regular home 8ft AE Schmidt. It was my first road loss, $10. I was only 20 minutes from home.

Well, our esteemed JAM knew I was from Maine from our interactions here, and found this photo for me, as I wasn't using an avatar photo at the time. I liked it. I've been using it for many years now.

Of course, even funnier is that particular crustacean in the photo is NOT a Maine lobster, but we won't get caught up in the details now, right?
The girl is still pretty ;)

The nickname is just something I came up with when creating a username here lo those many years ago. Locally here, an old colloquialism for not being very good at something would be "dubbing around", so I kinda figured an apt description of my game is that I'm "Just a Dub".
Not terribly clever. But I've been using it for almost 15 years now, its stuck.

Been on AZ since about 2008 ish, have always seen your avatar. Great to finally hear the story behind it! (Edit: Just looked at my profile, I joined in 2006!)

Im a creative person and like pool and game design. At some point I wanted to redesign pool. I still think there is lots of room for innovation, but it's a tough challenge. So I choose the slightly mad scientist that is experimenting with the poolball.

The name DaWizard I choose in jest because the first game I came up with was Wizardball. Wanted to change my name later, but I can't so now Im stuck with this 😄 It does resemble my play though, because I always enjoyed going for more extreme shots.
