Uploading problem this morning:
My Paint program dropped my photograph size in half to 2MB but that was still too large to upload here. I then cut it (couldn't find the sliding bar for jpg conversions) and it worked but it left out needed parts of image. Could the upload limit be increased to 5 MB?

I would recommend using the Tapatalk app on a phone or tablet. I have never had a problem uploading a photo.

Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk

If your using a windows PC look up IrfanView. Makes it real easy to resize images.
Converting it to jpg didn't help probably because the default was to produce too much quality.

I will have to figure how to use Corel's resizing to reduce size.

Or set default on cell-phone camera to produce lower-quality photo.

Or, use Tapatalk or IrfanView.

Or, maybe the allowable upload could be bumped to 5MB?

The photo you showed doesn't require anything more than at the most a 1 mg jpg file. Learn how to use your phones photo editor, or if on a desktop get a free photo editing program.
I'll try to include a link to another post I did where I included 4 large pictures in one post, you just need to learn how to resize your photos, it's really easy.
There is not much of a problem because of photo size on this forum.
Edit, having trouble linking with the included pictures. Search post, A Great Dog, Go to #35 in it and you will see 4 large photos inserted in one post. There is plenty available for picture posting. Me personally I struggle with videos. It's said you can do it with youtube, guess I will need to make an account.

Here's a hack: when I take a photo on my iPhone and try to upload it to a forum such as AZB and get the message that it's too large, I simply mail it to myself. On my iPhone, it asks what size I want to send the photo; I select Medium from Small, Medium, Large, or Actual Size (about 5%, 15%, 45%, 100%, of original size respectively, depending on the individual photo).

Then I open either the sent email or wait until it's in my inbox and open it there, select the photo in the email, which has now been resized, and copy/paste it inline in my forum post. No need for a resizing program (although I have one on my laptop.)

I got Corel Paintshop. It somehow defaulted to a better quality jpg file. I need to study up on that. It used to work and had option on the amount of quality I want per jpg photo. I need to work just a little more on that. Or just study up on resizing ---- 1MB should be plenty!

No worries! But, its possible that..... maybe,..... perhaps...... .

no complaints but you and they should change it? really?????

It all boils down to server space is why there is a limit. On a very active forum with a ton of 5mb files starts to eat up space pretty quickly. More space costs $$

I think it's also bandwidth when viewers download the image, since the picture is going to be the vast majority of the post. I wonder how many are still on dialup.

Hard to imagine, but up to last year this time the only internet available to us was the wifi hotspot on our phone, and for the longest time with that we only had one bar of service till we put a $1200 booster in. Then they came down our road with fiber, wow, we are part of humanity again.

I usually don't think on that end sometimes, but you are right, Get a page with 40 posts all with images and if you don't have good download speed it's going to take a bit to load the page.

Do a screenshot, copy and paste is one easy way.

For the iPhone there is already a sizing option for your photos that is easier than emailing.

Most community sites have the ability to resize photos on upload so the user doesn’t have to manually do it. Have one server run the conversion on the backend and opposed to 1000 users each having to individually do it. But this isn’t Mike’s fault, I assume XenoForo doesn’t have that ability.
