If Jesus comes back as a road player?

I was playing pool with a beautiful blond when she got word her home had been robbed. Why me Lord was popular at the time. She must have played it twenty times or more.

I'm sure you know that Kris was a renaissance man. Rhodes scholar, helicopter pilot, wrote over five hundred songs fairly early, he might have topped a thousand. An actor of no mean ability, singer that made us all listen even if he thought he sounded like a frog. Can't forget, he was a janitor too! I am sure I have left out plenty more.

a highwayman.

the robbery thing happened to a pool buddy when we were playing, his wife called and said there had been a burglary. he wanted to keep on playing haha. then he remembered he had money stashed away at home so he eventually left. funny how pool addiction works. i think we've all been there, just maybe not that extreme

The blond was waiting for someone else that lived there to get home, playing pool was just killing time. Can't blame her, the house had been broken into once that night, who was to say the intruder wasn't watching and waiting to come back? Could be they were still nearby.

That was short and off topic, what follows is long and off topic, the tale of another theft:

A friend made a run from Salt Lake to Mexico many weekends. Paid two grand a run just to sit around. He comes home one Sunday and his place has been trashed. A lot stolen but things the thief couldn't haul off like huge speakers he destroyed. Don was more angered by the vandalism than the theft though he was sizzling about both.

The phone rang when he had been home about thirty minutes. A friend calling to tell him that the thief had tried to sell him audio equipment that he recognized as unmistakably Don's. A quick call for another friend to ride shotgun and Don rolls. The thief isn't unknown, hanging in the same group as Don a bit. Met his Camaro coming from the other direction. A quick U-turn and the chase is on, TV show style, shots fired with intent in both directions. A few hits on the old 3/4 four wheel drive Don is driving but it could take it. The Camaro was being shot from the back and with the speeds and wild maneuvers it didn't suffer any damage to slow it down either. For some reason the thief squared a block and headed back to his apartment. Don and Thomas were only seconds behind when the thief made it in his apartment. Maybe had better hardware there or was just out of ammo. Regardless, Don was only a few leaps behind when the thief got the door open.

The asskicking began! Don isn't a big guy but he is tough and there was never a question how things were going to go. When he finished thrashing the guy it still seemed like more needed doing so he trashed the apartment more than his had been damaged. Don was still dissatisfied. He looked down at the braided ponytail the guy was wearing much like his own. Inspiration! Don pulled out his Buck pocketknife. He only meant to take the hair but when he pulled up the guy's head raised a bit and the quick slash got a little meat and hide, a genuine scalping if unintentional. Don hung the scalp on the antenna of his truck and paraded it around for six months or so before it finally disappeared from a parking lot. That was satisfaction enough and a strong hint not to mess with Don!

giving up six games in a race to seven
sounds like a trap no matter what

is $200 supposed to be a lot of money?
and what is the game? 8 ball?
is he alone?
does he have his own cue?
is he drinking?
do i know this road player’s identity
or is it a secret?

Think i'll start me a on-line church just for pool players and i'll call it 'Blessed are the Broke Dicks' and i'll sit in a chair with my bourbon and ask for $$ just like Dr Gene Scott did back in the day. Anyone remember that cat? He was a trip.

a sucker born every minute. and he got rich. a lot of people give up to 10% of their income to buy their way into some kind of salvation from something.

I remember somebody running that scam, I think it was Oral Roberts the time I am thinking of. A long time ago he ran a campaign for four or eight million dollars I believe. If he didn't get the donations God was going to call him to heaven. I thought that would be a good thing so I didn't donate. I did get a chuckle or three out of it and my mom clipped a column and mailed it to me every week so she knew I was updated to laugh about it. Her comments in the margins made the columns collectors items. Mom was a dedicated Christian, I was an equally dedicated backslider, we both laughed about the idea he would get called to heaven. I don't think he raised the cash by the deadline, wish I remember how he explained not having to go on the carpet in front of The Big Guy to explain why he couldn't raise a fairly piddling amount of money even then.

There is a guy named Jesus in our pool league that has long hair and wears sandles. I think I would take that action. Anyway the real Jesus wouldn't use his real name. He would use a fake name like say cesar morales.

So non of us know when or how Jesus will return. However, if Jesus comes back as a road player and spots you 6 games on a race to 7 for $200 would you take that action?
In an age where it’s well established shared common sense that Christ is a myth and there is no God that out of all the things that could be talked about his name is still raised. Makes me wonder about the internal struggles of the original poster.

I live in Tulsa, home to Oral Roberts University. I could tell a bunch of stories about that cat. In most cases your average used car dealer stands on as high moral ground as that clan. Bunch of shysters selling everliving eternity. Whatever. Sorry for going off track but the thread OP was kinda asking for these replies with this thread. NPR crap really.

The only catch is that going back to well established shared common sense of a few hundred years or so ago we get into some mighty foolish things. Our common sense might seem equally foolish in a few hundred years or so.

Our present knowledge is just a thimbleful in an ocean. Realizing that, I am unwilling to dismiss much of anything. Something interesting now is the claim that we can have knowledge and memory other places than just in our brain and mind. Maybe the old people weren't too far wrong when they felt it in their bones! Muscle memory might be real too.

Things don't go around in circles but they sure seem to go around in pretty tight spirals sometimes! Much of what was widely accepted as truth a hundred years ago was derided fifty years ago. Now it seems some of what was derided has an element of truth in it. This old world gets confusing when we accept anything as absolute truth!

There is no truth to what you said at all. You've been jaded and have made up your mind to take a stand on false information.
And yes, I have plenty of internal struggles. And I've battled with depression, anxiety, alcoholism and drug use most of my life. Thankfully, pursuing a relationship with God has helped to ease those burdens in my life. And as I grow stronger in my faith and trust in God. I am starting to become a better person, I have more peace of mind, and my life is improving in many positive ways. And i finally have some hope for my future.
I hope someday you may open your mind and heart. And experience the love and peace that having a relationship with God can bring into your life. I wish you the best my friend.

In that case I retract my statement fully. I too am a man of faith and a believer in Christ. The original post struck me as a bit of mockery which is very common on the interwebs. Remain in him. Remain in prayer.
