Old cue balls?

I've noticed a lot of people and events using the "new" blue measle balls with the actual new Duramith object ball sets.
With the blue cue balls being Super Pro balls, it seems odd to me.
Is the difference between the super pro balls and the new Durmamith balls that negligible?
If you believe the marketing hype, the Duramith balls are better. And what ball is more important than the cue ball?

The whole Duramith resin has been weird from an adoption standpoint. I bought my set it must have been 10 years ago now. Yet until about 1 year ago, every event seemed to still be on the Super Aramith Pro resin. I don't know if Aramith didn't push their top of the line balls enough? Just weird all the way around.

I think the light blue Measle ball is distributed exclusively by Diamond, as when I contacted my Aramith distributor, that’s who they suggested I had to go through if I wanted to get some. Whether they have the Duramith resin or the super pro resin I have no idea, but I am assuming the Duramith resin..

When I talked to someone at Diamond and wanted to order an entire 16 ball box from them, even as a dealer and poolroom operator, the price I was given which was quoted to me as a special discounted price, was basically 2X what I pay for the black or the red pro cup Measle cue balls from my Aramith dealer. I politely told him thank you and that I would get back in touch if I wanted to order some.

Same with the "Predator" set, which is Aramith Duramith. Super Aramith Pro (Predator putting their name on higher quality stuff for once)
Everywhere I've looked has a similar description for the "Diamond" measle ball.

Unless they just changed the Predator Arcos2 set is made from SAP not Duramith. I contacted Saluc/Aramith in July of '21 and was told this directly. Said that the Duramith formula would only be used in 'Aramith' brand balls. AFAIK only the Aramith 'Tournament' sets(traditional, t.v. and BLACK) are Duramith. The cb from the Tournament sets(reg. and black measel) is available by itself also.

SNAKE OIL ALERT! What a crock. If Arcos balls are simply Super Pro sets, Their hype is super overblown.
Par for the course, from what I've seen.

Relax there sparky. SAP was Aramith's top ball for a long time. Still being made and is also what Centennials are made from. Duramith is suppose to leave less burn marks and skid less. I've played both sets and can't tell them apart.

Yeah, they play fine. But I've noticed older SAP sets don't hold their shine, and get dirty way faster than when they're new. Haven't played with the Duramiths long enough to know if they do the same.
I'm relaxed, (thanx, pops) I just don't appreciate companies who blow smoke up people's asses to make a buck. Seems shady.

AFAIK, only SW cues and Diamond tables can operate without advertising.
Everyone else needs to hype their products to some degree to gain market share.
It worked for Kamui. They are not the best tips out there but they spend the most on advertising and have been rewarded with a bulk of the market.

I tried the light blue measles ball and I didn’t care for it as much as the black dot and red dot Aramith cue balls.
Bolder, darker color on a cue ball presents a better sight picture and IMO, the black dot version is the best so far.

i bet you're older than me, pops.

Oui, ils jouent bien.
Cela semble louche.

duramith is a new technology and the 4th generation of phenolic resin produced by saluc, they are by far the best balls on the market currently, I can certify this since I have been manufacturing them for 35 years. There is no question of deceiving the people

Welcome to the forum. I think you will get many questions. Also, you will get a few bumps, but this is the internet so those are to be expected.

Here's a question you may be able to answer: Can you tell us about the problems making the original spotted balls (about 1998?). I know they were in very limited supply at the start for carom.

Hello
I no longer remember this, at the start of each new production of products there are imperatives for sure, problems that arise, we are constantly working to improve quality

Perhaps you did not understand what I was saying. I don't dispute the quality of Aramith balls. I was disputing the claims made by Predator about the Super Pro balls they are selling as something extraordinary.

Can you explain why the Aramith 100 sets were delayed nearly a year? Can we expect regular ball sets with this new process that is claimed to be superior to all others?

I know only we had to deal with an overloaded order book, for the rest I believe in fact that they are really extraordinary by the process

I did end up getting a set for a friend, he likes them very much. I could not justify the price for myself, and am hoping that someday they will be available at normal prices, and with more traditional markings.
