One of my favorites ... of course I also loved the Brunswick House and Grosmanns Tavern .. and occasionally the Bamboo (may be dating myself).

It has been some time since I was able to visit Toronto. Great city and booming. When I was there I counted 38 cranes in the downtown area. Larger in population than Chicago. I found a funky spot that had a few vintage pool tables and spent three nights there terrorizing the locals.
Even though it was not a real pool hall It was a great time and the girl tending bar had no problem breaking American $100 dollar bills. Rivoli was the name If I remember correctly, I had a loonie, toonie time.
 
For my brief time in Toronto it was the colored stone which if I remember correctly I was told it closed down . It was truly mind blowing for a fella from small town Montana ! Ha ha

The Rivoli is a terrific place….every table is a collector’s item….including a Centennial and an Anniversary from the 40s and a bunch of tables from the 30s by the Jamaica billiards company….pretty sure it’s still there…I talked the owner into re-rubbering a bunch of tables.

Yes I played on five or six of those tables.
The ones that caught my eye were two AMF tables. Super retro. I imagine from the late 60’s or early 70’s.

I went downstairs to the bar/restaurant and got talked into seeing a show that they had going on in the back theater. 😳

I think the AMFs would be the newest tables in the place.
 
You guys and your Polar Vortex...you have no idea what extreme cold is!

Last Thursday 2/20, as I was going to sleep, I looked over at my iPhone and saw clear documentation of extreme cold. I reached over and took a screenshot to preserve it for posterity (and to post on AZB).

Yes sir down in Huston that maybe extreme cold but up here there's folks all but running around in swimming suits and sun bathing at 31 above ha ha !

I know a gal who doesn't even wear a coat during temps like that .
 
In 2016 we started on a sled trip and it was -45 without the windchill. The tracks on our sleds were frozen to the floor inside my enclosed trailer. That was a sign to turn around and go home. We rode 250 kms (150 miles or so) with nowhere to stop and warmup and 3 out of the 10 in our group got frostbite.

Had one of those at Elbow Lake in Northern MN. -34F air temp. Took us 2 hours to get all the sleds started. I made it 6 miles across the lake and went back to the resort. Only had my light helmet/goggles with me. Still got mild frost nip on my cheek bones from a tiny bit of air coming thru. Only time in my life.
 
I was in Prince Albert SASK when it was 25 below F…I decide to walk about five blocks to the pool hall….a dry cold on the prairies isn’t so bad. I felt colder in Atlantic City at two below on the boardwalk…that salt air never freezes.
