European Championships, 2025, March 29 to April 8

Was listening to Josh Filler's commentary on the 10 ball men finals and I thought it was insightful. He mentioned that he would have liked to play, but he couldn't get support from his Federation. Wonder why? Anyone has any idea why this was the case?

no clue why. neuhausen isn't playing either, only kasper and bongers are playing of the germans. the EC isn't worth it if the federation doesn't chip in, and now the netherlands federation have stopped that too, so the top dutch players aren't playing either.

anyway. good on konrad to win the 10-ball. he played fast and entertaining

Yeah, the first one of those was the event during which a complete unknown from Albania (at least he was unknown to Americans) wowed the New York City fans. His name was Eklent Kaci and he won the event. I'm guessing he was only 17 at the time.

good events. take what you make, tight pockets, shot clock, no jump cues. but both kaci and ruslan made it look easy in the end.

i suspect pro 8-ball is a lost cause. it's more fun to watch amateurs and semipros play ultimate pool than this lagging contest in estonia.

Chinakhov won the first event of Appleton's World Pool Series, in January of 2017. Kaçi won the second such event, about 3 months later, when he was 18.

Ah, yes, I attended both but got them muddled. Really a shame that the World Pool Series did not last.

Over in China the Chinese 8 Ball events seem to keep going but you barely see the game anywhere else. I would love to see an event on those tables in europe where the majority of the elite 8 ball players are at.

If I remember right, didn't they also do some 9 ball events before it closed down?

As much as I'm loving Ultimate Pool USA, I would love to see the WPS format used on tighter tables.

Even though I do not much enjoy watching Chinese 8ball, they seem to understand that without really tight pockets, the game does not provide a sufficient challenge for the most elite cueists.

Pockets were 4 inch on WPS but tables were Brunswicks. So they were tight but Nothing like 4 inch Diamonds today.

Appleton's World Pool Series had 8 events. Five events were 8-Ball (numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7), one event was 9-Ball (no. 5), and two events were 10-Ball (numbers 6 and 8).

The winners, in order, were: Chinakhov, Kaçi, Woodward, Kaçi, Grabe, Filler, Melling, Filler.

eurotour finals coming up in i think 2 hours. grabe vs filler/kaspar

for some reason they choose 8-ball in this eurotour and i don't think filler has missed more than 2 balls throughout the tournament
