Pro Equipment

I haven’t played in a long time 😉

Actually the truth for once…..
Brother, you've been around long enough to probably know who I'm talking about. But there was a VERY strong player, I believe, out of Louisville who made a pretty good living by his opponents not taking him seriously. He had a whole thing where he'd do pushups against the table and all kinds of other stuff to look like an complete goof. And it didn't hurt that God himself blessed that man with natural goofy looks. Heck of a nice guy if he knew you and an incredibly talented player. There are several reasons why I'm not going to mention his name, but the main one is I really don't know what his real name was.

I like pool cues.
I like to play with all my pool cues.
But I do admit that not playing with the same cue all the time will hurt your game, so if you compete and you want to maintain a level of play and improve, it’s important to keep as many variants as possible constant.
When I used to compete, then during a league season I would stick to one cue and one shaft. And although, I’ve used the same type of shaft on all my cues, different butts, do feel differently and will influence your game.
I completely get this. I mean, who doesn't like to try out different cues? It's almost like having a garage full of different vehicles. Each one brings joy in its own way. And I have multiple cues but not because I collect them. I just don't like dealing with selling stuff so they've just accumulated.

But a "Pro Setup" that, from the sound of it, is more like a bugout bag... (Because you never know when you're going to need to play a cheap set while society is collapsing.) I just don't understand it. But like I've said before, I don't understand a lot of things. So take that however you'd like.

Think of a pro setup in terms of that cue that feels the best, that you play best with and that you trust the best for using in an important match.
Again, changing cues all the time might hurt the performance with that cue as well but it’s that one cue that you fall onto for consistency.

Right... But that's just "my cue."

There are tons of professional equipment out there; Predator, Mezz, Lucasi and various other pro equipment.

My pro setup for competing is my Mezz and a BK breaker.

My chill setup are my customs when I'm just messing around.

Everyone should have a pro setup and a regular casual setup.

I have a pretty decent collection of shafts and cues I mess around with, just never sold many of them when I got something new. But my go-do setup is maybe 2 different shafts and my main custom butt. I do play around with several cues when just playing with friends, and when I travel. I can't say I have a schedule of uses though for them, just sometimes I grab something to use. Most of the time I use what I would use in a tournament, sometimes I don't.

I used to have 2 kits in the 80’s into early 90’s.

One for bars & places I wanted to either be undercover or have a cue that didn’t get noticed

Then my regular kit which was a joss East or SW back then.

So ya 2 kits can be a thing in pool.

It’s not something to argue over, yet somehow that can happen here.

Fatboy <——-on his way out of the door if this stupid shit continues, I can’t waste time with this nonsense

Thank you.

I just assumed everyone has extra cues and cases. You just fill them up and put it in the closet. Depending where you go you just grab one or the other.

I don’t play anymore. But when I did yes I had a few different kits. 90% 95% of the time I used my normal kit. But I had others

Some Pro use what they are paid to use, they get Sponsorship Money to play with say CueTech, or Meucci. Sponsorship is about have a guaranteed income.
