DigiBall Passaround Reviews

in summary
its a well made product which will give you lots of information
if you think what it gives you will be helpfull
you will not be disappointed in its performance
personally i think you can get what you need to know with a training ball or measle ball and a discerning eye and mind

Excellent, I am glad you are enjoying the product. Just be aware that if you use a measle ball or traditional training ball, you need to physically align the ball each time you take a shot, and that isn’t something many players like to do. The DigiBall doesn’t require any alignment, is hands free, and you can play actual games with it.

I look forward to your review.
I see your product adding to the spectator part of the game as much as the training part of the game. Watching live matches and wondering what type of english was used for a shot drives me crazy. I love the commentated matches after the fact where they talk about what will happen and how. But watching live and getting that instant feedback is gonna be awesome.

one last thing
i tried to export the info and this is what i got
i dont know what to do with this or how to read it

Hey all,

Wondering if anybody has tried using the dag-gone thing as the object ball yet. Lookin’ at you Slateman.

Thinkin’ bout frozen ball hits where it would be line of centers to beat up a pocket point.

Is maximum spin transfer half ball?

Gearing English at different cut angles.

Is it possible to influence throw past the 2nd ball in a cluster?

I was impressed by how well the ball played. Virtually no difference to my other cue balls. I did notice it occasionally didn't register accurately on very soft shots, and sometimes very hard shots. I think this thing would be a super cool addition for anyone with the icat system, giving additional feedback for training with it.
I'm somewhat familiar with OBS, but unfortunately I did not have time to try adding the digiball to it. It might be a cool addition for some people I know that regularly stream matches.
At my skill level I mostly just focus on really basic fundamentals, and couldn't really see myself buying this. But perhaps someday if my stroke ever straightens out, I could get value from something like the digiball.
I let several friends play with it, and everyone liked it.
Thanks very much to those that provided the opportunity to let us try it out!
Can you envision Digiball being used in a tournament format?? I can almost hear the broadcasters trying to explain why so and so missed that shot by using the Digiball readout. "He put some unwanted left and too much speed on that shot," "uh oh, went too high for that shot." Ho boy will some watchers geek out on that. Plus it would give the announcer guys something to talk about other than the same old rant and rave.
Might be interesting to see Digiball demo'ed at a venue like that.

First of all, “dag-gone thing” coming from someone with Varmint in their name is extremely appropriate English.

Secondly, yes, if you use the DigiBall as an object ball, you can observe induced spin. Since induced spin is proportional to throw you can gauge how much the ball might have been thrown off line. Also the DigiBall will still think that itself is a cue ball, and will register where the tip contact point would have been if it were hit directly with a pool cue, which is interesting.

I don't agree that you can get all the data you need with a training ball. Your draw shots can be much different from one another depending on if you hit the cue ball with an accelerating or deaccelerating cue, spin shots can be be different too. There would just be too much that you have to assume compared to using something like Digiball.

The digi ball does not tell
You if you accelerate or not
just speed
You have your opinion of its value
and I have mine
let’s leave it at that

Nuff said.

Why not use it to shoot a cluster of shots then check the average speed and use the additional data provided to see if you're accel or decel?? Justathot.

Just a reminder. If by chance the remaining testers have an Apple Watch, please also evaluate the watch app. Thanks

I agree that using this in a tournament format with it displayed on screen would be really cool, I would LOVE to be able to watch a pro tournament and see exactly how the player is hitting the shot.

Even just setting up an exhibition match to showcase this with some good and knowledgeable commentators would be really neat to see.
