UK Open 2025 Telford, UK, May 6-11

Andri Januarta, a sixteen-year-old Fargo 750, who greatly impressed with 9th place at the Las Vegas Open in February, is giving JL Chang all he can handle.
Says he's 22 when I look him up. At any rate, beating a top 10 player in the world is a serious W. Still pulling for JL Chang because he's my guy and has a good chance in this field

john morra is playing righty again. did he have surgery?
I saw he started messing around righty recently and decided to switch back. Must be nice playing 800 pool with either hand

Apparently not- he posted on Facebook a few weeks ago that Hunter Lombardo had him demonstrate his ambidextrous abilities in front of his students getting lessons from Hunter and he just decided on the spur of the moment to return to shooting right handed.

I haven't been watching this tournament, so I don't know if he has switched his left eye dominant tendencies- if not, I fear his neck problems will return.

I've just caught up watching some of the past live videos, who's this jack dean guy? I've seen him play both Neils and Rob Hart so far and it seems hes there just to be laughed at.

Niels is playing for his tournament life, and getting a bit pissy every time he screws up. This match is getting pretty intense.

some known youtuber / influencer apparently. i guess these invited celebrities are supposed to recruit new fans

My bad. I watched him play in Vegas and liked what I saw. There was a 16-year-old in the field, but now I can't remember who it was.

I've always liked JL Chang's game, but his pace of play ensures that I won't watch him very often unless his match is on the shot clock.

You are probably thinking about Edward Koyongian

Given that so many of the stars of the WNT (Fedor Gorst, SVB, FSR, Jeff Roda, Anton Raga, James Aranas, Dennis Grabe, Ko Pin Yi, Ko Ping Chung, Albin Ouschan and others) were no shows, maybe some youtube celebrities are just what is needed to keep things entertaining for those in attendance.

Why did they no show?

I think it was probably more to draw in people who normally would not have any interest in watching pool. And with players having to withdraw or unable to show up, it was a way to add something at -- hopefully -- minimal cost.

A couple of the reasons have already been given here:

There is a huge billiard trade show in China. Sponsored players are expected to schmooze and be amazing.

The Filipino players had some problem with visas.

Also, in 256 entries, you can always expect a number of people to have issues even without the above. I think there were five or so in the European Open who did not show up.

Matchroom is treating their tournaments as their personal parties to have fun with.

i have no doubt emily tries to generate new interest. guy seems to be famous in ingolland, has million followers, a wikipedia page, etc. i have complete social media dyslexia myself, so i can't gauge or assess these things

especially anton raga. i'm beginning to doubt he even has a passport

aj manas seems to have his stuff together. (or a better manager)

my first time watching Manas and he makes this fantastic shot on the one ball at around 11:23

I think most players would slow roll that

very natural, flowing. i like what i'm seeing.

turns out he's next up on tv table, vs woodward. could be a great match
