Please help with thoughts / info about a very unusual Brunswick pool cue?

fix the joint and makes a good leave in the car cue or bar cue. or on your wall for friends to use.
if it happens to hit superbly then it can be your dream cue as same thing with any cue that hits just like you want.

what you are willing to pay is what it is worth it to you.

I had one that was made by Helmstetter. Wish I still had a picture of it. It was super nice. It hit amazing, I thought. One of my many very regretful sales / trades.
I have 2 or 3 with a "plastic" (nylon?) insert by Adam. They are nice. Mine not branded Helmstetter as far as I remember.

I'm pretty sure I have a nice Lishan with such an insert as well.

This particular cue is different. A big Delrin insert/pilot.

A little game.

If you are interested in Adam/Helmstetter type cues, at the risk of giving away a find that I might go for, there is an older, much more rare one available on ebay right now. Same price range. Of course it is mislabeled, listed wrong, and described incorrectly. I wonder if you have found it or can find it?

HINT: There is very little information available about it online and it is difficult to research for a very specific reason. There is an additional astonishing fact about the listing, but I will not give that part away.

Don't ask anyone anything more. Let's see if you can find it. Post your find here.

If anybody else thinks they know, don't spoil it, DM me if you want to confirm it's what I am talking about.

Another hint. Ebay sales are indexed by Google.

I think I hear the theme music for Jeopardy!

Yeah, I think the cue also looks old, or at least played with a lot, just from the appearance of the shaft wood. The grease and dirt, from playing, has gone all the way down to the joint collar.

Thanks for your reply.
I mentioned this in another post somewhere, but it's cues like these are why it's probably best I don't have a lathe (yet.) If someone could pick it up for the right price, I can't help but think this would be a great cue for someone starting out with cue repairs to pick up and tinker with. I'd start by plugging the shaft and retapping it for a new pin and change the pin. If that turned out good, then I'd clean up the shaft and maybe change the ferrule and tip. If I was feeling froggy, I might even attempt a refinish to get rid of the logo. There's all kinds of ways I'd consider messing this cue up. :ROFLMAO: But, hey, it might turn out great and I'd end up with a sweet little player to give to someone who needs it.

I like reading these threads…..but I rarely buy online….I tend to make up for that at trade shows and tournaments.
Nothing like being able to pick up a cue and feel the balance and hit the forearm and watch it sing…and ascertain straightness.

I hear you, but the thrill of the hunt coupled with finding the unknown just makes for an intoxicating mix.

Getting a $700 to 2K cue for a fraction of it's worth because you put in the work and hound-dogged it down is so much more satisfying than the times I've just gone out and bought a $3.5k to $10K cue.

I don't love any of them less, I just enjoy the hunt more!

Oh yes. Nothing replaces hands on.

This is just a different kind of fun.

Many of the cues I research I don't buy, but some I do.

It scratches a different area of the same kind of itch.

I’ve had some good experiences live……first time I went to SBE I took an old Brunswick ( long shaft ,short butt) original silk wrap.
Murphy outta Texas was there…he had the same cue but it was hopeless…..I was the second owner on mine, it was straight…bought it for 150 Canuck….got three cues for it….kept the one I liked and came out couple thou ahead. Bought many cues at tournaments similarly.

There is a Kikel Jump / Break cue, that has been on ebay for a long time now, and the seller has lowered their price to $1050, iirc, and that is probably one of the best deals currently on ebay, in my opinion. For anyone who has ever played with a Kikel, they are amazing Players, and that Jump / Break looks like a Player to me. Very beautiful cue. $1k might be a little high on it, but it is probably one of very few Kikel cues on the market, and surely the cheapest on the market. They are just so rare, and I heard that Kikel is practically retired these days, from cue making.

LOL! It's not a Joss. I described it as an Adam/Helmstetter type cue.

Hi, I searched and searched, under the used Buy it Now auctions, for pool cues, and got tired of searching by Page 15. The only fairly cheap cue that I could find, that I believe to be an early Japanese made Adam cue, are these Ada-Chi LTD cues. I was told awhile back, by a guy from Japan, that those early Ada-Chi LTD cues were made in Japan, but I believe that it was probably Adam who made them. This is a very nice, and probably a pretty decent quality cue, I believe.

Good morning.

15 pages? You are definitely dedicated. Nice. I feel a little bad. This is a seriously tough one.

No, that's not the cue. Adachi is a region of Tokyo, but I believe those cues are made in Taiwan by Tai-Can. Another case where people will say "no way" a cue that nice came out of Taiwan. That was even said by an experienced person in the thread I am about to reference.

I had said it is mislabeled, listed wrong, and described incorrectly. The hint was that there is very little information available about it online and it is difficult to research for a very specific reason. Another hint was that Ebay sales are indexed by Google.

Another hint:
One of the cues in the model series was listed in this forum years more than ten years ago.

It got very little attention here. Even if you know exactly what to search for you will not find it in a forum search or a Google search using standard search terms. This cue is that unique, even though mass produced by a major maker. In fact, I just checked my notes and I did not save a link to the AZB thread (trust me that bugged the hell out of me), so I went to find it again and could not, even though I was just looking at it last week. I saved the pictures but not a link to the thread. I will go after it again this afternoon. Since we are talking about a certain brand or manufacturer, if you know this community you can guess who posted it on the first try. That's another hint.

Another hint
: Since I have been back I posted a picture of part of the exact cue for sale in a thread here in these forums.

I will not give this away until after the sale unless you find it because I am seriously considering buying it. Nobody has sent me a DM identifying the correct cue by the way.

I have a list of common searches that I run. It's on that list in three different ways. It is very unlikely that anybody else would run those exact search terms.

This is a seriously tough one, and very "outside the box". I can appreciate going through 15 pages of listings. That is laborious to say the least, especially when you don't know exactly what you are looking for. That definitely gained some respect from me. Believe it or not, it's not such a stretch to identify as a collectable cue like the one you found. It's definitely a collectable cue.

Lastly, I am dealing with an ongoing dental issue, dentist appointments every Thursday to get it taken care of. Last night it flared up. I am in a helluva lot of pain, slept three hours, and am spaced out on pain meds now. We are trying to get an urgent appointment with my dentist. So, if I disappear for a while, or don't respond immediately, I am either at the dentist office or drugged into oblivion.

Hi, very sorry to hear about your dental issue. Hope you feel better soon.

I am confused about the Google indexed thing you mentioned. I have no idea what that means. Curious, can you tell me if the cue is from one of those Japanese sellers, or if it is located in the USA? I used the wording "Cue" to do my search, including Descriptions, so if the word cue was not there, then I would not have found it, lol. Some sellers just say "Pool stick", lol, and might not even include the word "Cue" in their listing. The Japanese sellers are very annoying to me, because many of them are just middle men, and do not even own the cue. So, you will see the same exact cue, from several different Japanese ebay sellers. They also do not know anything about the cue they are selling, because all they do is copy and paste the info from the real owners listing, on a Japanese Marketplace, and they use their pictures too. So, when ever I shop on ebay, I tend to always click the Search box that says North America only, so that all those Japanese listings will be edited out, because I just find them to be annoying.

Thanks for the info about Ada-Chi cues. They look like nice cues to me, and I thought the Forearms reminded me of Helmstetter style points. I can see they have real points and real inlays, and appear to be made with nice looking woods, like BEM. They seem like a good cue, for the $200 price range. I see they use the SW Style joint pin too, so it makes since that they are from Taiwan.

Hi, very sorry to hear about your dental issue. Hope you feel better soon.

I am confused about the Google indexed thing you mentioned.
Thanks. I just found out I have a fractured molar root and it has to come out. 💀

So, pain killers and antibiotics until Thursday.

Being indexed on Google means it's searchable in Google. This forum is too.

For example, if you Google Cobra cue and click on images, you will see a bunch of my posts on AZB, plus eBay listings, and posts on other forums and social networking.

In medicine we have what is called the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), it's the repository for screening standards. They have a search function but I don't use it, I use google to search their web site.

You can search a site indexed by Google by just using Google.

To Google search Cobra cue on AZB you would search: cobra cue site:forums.azbilliards.com
You can then search All, Images, Forums, etc.

I often do image searches rapidly. I search all of Google, or just eBay, or just AZB, and/or anywhere else.

Another example: Gandy cue site:forums.azbilliards.com

So for example, sometimes I use the AZB search function, and sometimes I use Google. Experience tells me which will work better depending on what I am looking for and whether I am looking for text or images.

Here is an example of a simple search you might like. You will notice there are results included from AZB posts: Fun Search

I actually teach classes in how to find medical information on the web. Google scholar is great, of course, but search skills go way beyond that. How to use search terms is a whole class.

So, there is a lot more to it, but those are some examples of what can be done.

Oh, my, ouch. Sounds very painful. Thanks a lot for that info. I wonder if I can search active nationwide craigslist ads, using that method. I know it is a long shot, but some out of state sellers have been willing to ship in the past. I actually found a Kikel cue that was not local to me on Craigslist, and the seller was willing to ship it. I got lucky. But then, like an idiot, I sold maybe the best hitting cue I ever had, and will ever have, in my life. I miss that Kikel so much.
