THE Magic Rack

Also, the material wears down around the holes for the head ball and the balls behind the head ball after repeated use.
Want to know a secret?

The Outsville seems to be cut in a way where you can rotate it and use the bottom hole as the top. Rotate it 180 degrees once the front hole is wore out and it's basically a new rack. Sure it looks odd with the arrows pointing the wrong way, but the printed on instructions have nothing to do with how the rack is physically cut... it's the same with the arrows pointing at the breaker or away from the breaker. I thought it was to locate it in a specific orientation but it's not. It racks the same either way. Enjoy the extended use... it's not bad yet, just rotate it. Hopefully Outsville won't send out a hit squad, I'm sure they would rather have people just buy a new rack when it was only half worn out. :)

You cheap ass! Impressive!

Haha. I did the same thing and I'm so cheap, I flipped it over and did it again twice.

I'll fess up and admit I've never tried this. I always thought the bottom of the cutouts was wider than the top, so the balls would settle into the rack. But now that you mention it, the lower cutouts will probably mirror this, i.e. they'll be wider "into" the rack so rotating it 180 degrees will make it look like a new one. Amazing the things you learn if you keep an open mind.:p

That also says Magic Ball Rack. NOT Magic Rack.
Same thing, writing magic ball rack every time is annoying. Magic Rack has become basically like Kleenex it is a name many use as a generic term for a template rack. I personally lime the Outsville rack better, A. It creates a tight but more natural break B. I like the guy who owns the company C. They make fun seasonal and tournament templates for the art.

Sorry, but I never liked any of them. It drives me nuts to see balls careen off the template after the break and before all the balls settle. I prefer to move the head ball slightly forwards or back on the spot when I rack. You can just about always find a spot that will let the balls settle properly.

I'm against the template racks.

Bring back triangles or hand rack.

I like the unpredictability of a traditional rack. I play with these old timers, template rack guys, who break soft and most of the ball is on one side of the table. It becomes the same repetitive bullshit.

Break soft, pocket wing ball, most of the balls are on one end of the table.

It no longer feels like a true 9ball game.

I get it.
the problem with using a triangle is that it took a long time to get a decent rack. a lot of wasted time in tournaments but also when you just play in a pool hall that you pay by the hour...

Only thing I like is how fast it is to get on with the game.

Shiiiit. That's nothing.

I took a pic of somebody else's and fust look at it while I rack.
Here you go. 😉

The high gloss paper from my carpenters magazine Is stronger and lasts longer than note paper. 🤷‍♂️ the field repair on the note paper keeps it in the 9 ball game.

Till someone that can make one that doesn't crimp then carrying one is no use. I bet a lot of you guys carry folders with you.

If someone can make one where you can roll it and keep it in the bag then I'm all for it.

Strong enough to be rolled.

And oh yeah the "tuck tuck fold fold" from my favorite movie Multiplicity. Becomes the tuck tuck roll roll. I think I will go roll another. 😉

I purchased the magic rack and just use it for a template, Making paper racks for my own personal use. Should be OK with the copyright laws. 🤷‍♂️

So question. Will a two piece template work? Can be made with ball placers and simply removed for breaking.
I can't picture what a 2 piece template would look like or how it could be removed.
My home table is trained and it's possible to freeze all the balls using my backless flying wing rack. Bar tables often just don't want the balls to stay tight. Probably from. Amateur players that constantly "bad rack" on purpose. Shrug 🤷‍♂️

Picture two or three rows of these:

Got it?

I tried the magic rack and with arthritis in my hands have a hard time. I rack faster with a triangle and get them tight prettywell. I find placing the one on the spot and then putting the triangle stops alot of the rolling away one ball on tough racking tables.
