Journey to join the Pro tournaments ?

I am not looking to win any events. How do you spot out where/when there will be open pro tournaments ? Is there a website or forum for it ?
Ultimate Pool USA has a website, but they only ever advertise their next event. The next one is in the Boston area and is NOT sold out yet. There are players ranging from the 300 Fargo level all the way up to Shane Van Boening (literally...the dude is already signed up). Great chance to play with the best in the world, and no one will look at you funny for not being a great player.

Otherwise, you have to go on Facebook and check out some of the tours to see their dates and locations.

Read posts 51 & 53, the OP is looking to skip playing in anything but professional tournaments, skip getting any competitive table experience, skip learning what tournament play is all about, and it sounds like he wants to skip shooting at all if its not a professional tournament. Though unlikely is it possible that he has so much natural talent that he is ready to kick SVB's and Gorst's asses having never played in a tournament before. He simply wants to enter the next professional tournament ASAP. He's like me, if Red Bull would give me the keys to Max Verstappens F1 car and his grid spot on race day that I could compete in the next F1 race even though I have never even sat in an F1 car much less driven anything remotely similar.
Do you have clips of SVB and Fedor hanging around the bar nightly spending hours and hours sitting and waiting to match up befofe becoming a pro ?

If you do, i want to buy it and learn from it under sped up process

Actually, yes. There are tons of videos of them doing drills and practicing. Have you ever seen a tournament? Can you explain how you play in one without waiting?

Aside from the hours and hours of waiting for matches and practicing, why do you think every minute they spend at a pool hall would be recorded for your "proof" of them doing it?

You have some odd ideas what being a pool player is. And you are likely going to be put on everyone's ignore list so no-one will see your posts because you seem to just have silly replies and wasting people's time.

If you don't know the events even exist, you are too new to the sport to even compete in them.

What I do at a tournament while waiting/watching to make delays bearable is sweat other folk's games, side bet on other folk's games, and run around and talk to everyone I know.
I'm not trying to sound like a broken record advertising for Ultimate Pool USA, but the BEST thing about their events is that you know exactly when your matches will be played. Even the day before. Waiting around is my least favorite part of tournaments.

Did I say I dont practice ? I just asked some questions which you did not answer and yet keep on bashing. Thanksfully someone else answered it.

So do you think SVB just practiced up to a certain point and said "I think I'm just going to go play in pro tournaments now"...

Or do you think he played pool competitively most of his life in leagues and local events before he started playing in pro events?

Yeah, one thing I’ve noticed is that pool players play pool. I don’t mean it in as trite a way as it sounds. The players play in all sorts of things. And when they are playing in a tournament they play between matches assuming open tables i.e. bar box tournaments they’ll play action match on the 9’ between matches. We have a tournament going at the same time as some leagues. They might play both. They play different games, different table sizes, tournaments, action. They PLAY. The OP doesn’t seem to strike us as being like this. Not a knock or being mean here OP. Jump in and play some and go from there.

Nobody gets near the top of the heap without being a bit obsessive. I could have gotten an advanced university degree from the hours I put in pool before I got pretty good. I bit my tongue a few times until it became obvious that the OP is only going to pay attention to the advice he wants to hear.

He wants a magic formula. Geno claims to have one. I think they should hook up and show the rest of the world how things should be done! A few lessons from Gene over Skype, what could be easier. Win a few major events. Shouldn't take more than six months before vincett is world famous and the world is beating a path to Gene's door. I'll settle for my ten percent as manager and consultant!

Who said I dont play ? Why so much presumptions here ? But I got my answers, I dont think there is any more ways to join the pro tournaments as the previous linked websites. I asked for myself and for others who are thinking about getting farther into pool as a sport...

Another bashing from this guy, you never gave advices, only bashing people. You seem to enjoy it a lot. Feel empowered and more mature ? I am glad I could help you with that

I never said I wanted to be world famous, winning big events and so on. I could be eliminated right on the first 2 matches and on the break, I dont care.

I simply asked, from where and how I could spot those pro tournaments to join/register.

Then this some Hu just came in and started bashing, making fun of people.

Respectfully, if you dont have any constructive things to post that is related to the topic. You should not be posting.

Hu is chiseling a chip onto that shoulder! We might just have our pool movie script in-bound... Right here's where the training montage fits into the plot... cutting in an out of different table layouts, sweat mopped from a furrowed brow, some grimacing, some table smacking, scrolling the MatchRoom website... Giorgio Moroder - Push it to the limit plays in the background... It fades away as SVB leans down to break, and pans to OP's determined expression in the chair... push it to the limittttttttt 🍿

SVB had his grandfather and aunt to teach him at younger age. They showed him the paths/directions and all he needed was just dedications.

My questions were not to just only practice and join the pro events and simply win. I asked the journey to the pro events. How to get there.

At least some one gave the link to the websites that I can post registrations and see the directions of joining. That gives more motivations to playing the game and learning more about it. It is crazy, 4 pages with only 4 useful posts, the rest is just junks/bashes

Fedor Gorst is 24 Years old and already is sinking the pros including SVB. You are telling me that he has only been playing in fhe bars tournaments for 3 years and made it ? There gotta be other ways

Oh yeah, that happens here from time to time. Try not to take it personally. Eventually something good pops up. Good sense of humour, helpful suggestions and interesting information can be found here. But thick skin is required from time to time. Speaking from experience.

It's 99% who you know and how much financial support you have...

Look at websites of organizations, brands and federations for big tourneys - MR, WPA, Duya, Joy etc... Keep an eye on local events, or follow some socials of your local scene. To some extent as mentioned, it's a big cliqué buddies club and you need to know the right people to stay constantly 'in the loop'

Did Gorst ever play in bars, in tournaments or otherwise? How many bar players ever become real pros? All I ever got out of one was "I only play on 7 foot tables".
I have seen some real barn burners on 7 foot tables, but to play with the pros, they all had to transition to 9 foot tables. (If I am wrong, please name them.)

So the road you seek is paved with 9 foot tables, and better players. Ask Mr. Hu how to gamble. I am sure he knows how, less sure he will help you, but absolutely certain he would not tell you everything he knows.

Not just bar tournaments... your ignorance is really showing.

Local tournaments arent limited to just bar tournaments. You have state events, regional events, a ton of things like that that will attract shortstops and some pros...

Just to add a bit of perspective... I occasionally play in a weekly bar/poolhall tournament. Draws a big field with absurd short races (9ball races to 3). 2 weeks ago, 5 state champions were there as well as a previous top American Pro who happens to be local (Brandon Shuff, Google him).

So don't just write those little tournaments off. You should be starting there and continuing with whatever practice regimen you feel will allow you to compete in pro events, and hell, play in the pro events too... that will really help open your eyes if you wont listen to people on here that have been playing for decades.

Edit to add: Getting out and playing in events with good local players will help you learn more about the game other then how to play it. You will learn more about it that way then reading Fedor or Shane's wikipedia pages.

Im done with this thread.

Your posts did. Now, it is possible we misread them. It is possible we misinterpreted them. But the content and tone of your posts left the impression that you really weren't going to play much. So I would say it is more of an inference than a presumption on the part of the posters. But whatever. Good luck in your pool travels.
