Please help with thoughts / info about a very unusual Brunswick pool cue?

I agree the insert pulled out of the shaft. When I first read this post the comment about it having an unusual joint pin is what caught my attention. I have an old Brunswick, which was my father's cue. When I got it, the tip was lifting slightly on one side so I took it to Jim Florio at Towne Billiards in Hamden, CT. I left it with him to look over and tell me if it should be retipped. When I went back he said he thought I may have something special because of the pin in the shaft design and wouldn't do anything to it. He asked if I knew about Herman Rambow, which I did not. He sent me to Mark Kalungian. Mark was pleasantly surprised to see the cue and verified it was a Brunswick of the era when Herman Rambow was Head Foreman of the Cue Making Department. After Rambow retired from Brunswick in 1950 all Brunswicks had the pin in the butt design. It's all original with a leather wrap. Because it was my late father's it holds a holier than holy place for me. I hope someone appreciates this.

Could you show the whole cue please?

Hi, I searched and searched, under the used Buy it Now auctions, for pool cues, and got tired of searching by Page 15. The only fairly cheap cue that I could find, that I believe to be an early Japanese made Adam cue, are these Ada-Chi LTD cues. I was told awhile back, by a guy from Japan, that those early Ada-Chi LTD cues were made in Japan, but I believe that it was probably Adam who made them. This is a very nice, and probably a pretty decent quality cue, I believe.

Well, we can now get on with concluding this little challenge.

FYI: Nobody sent me a DM with the correct listing. Some tried but missed.

The sale is completed. There was some drama, and the price got driven up. That was my fault, I will own that. Honestly, I spent the extra money, well beyond what I thought I wanted to, just to get the cue and post the whole matter here. I missed an opportunity to get it for much less only because I did not read my messages. OOPS! Pay for my mistakes I will. I think I paid maximum value, which is something I rarely do. But I am happy to get the cue. :)

The seller is an AZB member, and regular seller on eBay. He is a pleasure to deal with. I will leave positive feedback for him here and on eBay, after I have the cue in my hands.

So here is a final hint. Have you ever heard of Steve Mizerack? Or maybe Steve Miserak? LOL!

The listing was for a "Steve Mizerack cue". The cue has a signature on it "Steve Miserak" Yup, both the listing and the cue signature are misspelled. (I am not picking on the seller, so dude if you read this, please do not take it that way.) I just confirmed with the seller he never noticed the signature on the cue was misspelled.

So what is the cue?

It's an early release version of one of these:

But this cue is not in that catalog, and there were other cues not in that catalog.

I don't think anybody knows how many misspelled cues were released before it was corrected. Some say they were a prototype. I personally know of one that sold for $1,200, but I think that is unreasonably massively inflated. That cue was exactly the same design as the one I just bought.

The full listing title included more. It included the word "Japan" and "Dov" instead of Dove. So people looking for cues might very well pass it right up. In fact they did miss it. It did not sell and got relisted for a lower price. That's when I blew it and didn't grab it when the seller offered it to me at that low price only because I failed to read the message.

The listing title was: "Vintage Pool Cue - Steve Mizerack Signature Series Japan- Not The Cheap Dov Cue!"

It was not identified as an Adam in the description either. Although the seller seemed to know it was "special" he never hit on exactly the reasons why.

This was the listing description:

This auction is for a vintage Steve Mizerak 4-pt series cue. Please do your research if you are truly interested. This is not the mass production
dove cheapo cues you see everywhere. And it was made in Japan where the good ones are made - not taiwan. Look at pics and roll video. Has an
ivory ferrule, but sadly, there is a crack in it. Not all the way, but it's there.
I learned the following:
". the points, weight bolt, bumper all point to Japan along with the time period. If you removed the wrap you'd see a splice technique only used by
Spain, helmsetter, and now hercek. Spain and helmsetter were good friends who shared splicing techniques between each other."
These are rare and very hard to find.

And here is the YouTube video of the cue, which will give away the seller.

Fun eh?

Now. ADDITIONAL CHALLENGE

Nobody seems interested so I pulled that challenge down. It was just to find a specific AZB post about one of these cues. The fun part of hunting these is the spelling, and the fact that there are a sea of Taiwan Mizerak cues, some Adam Mizeark cues...and only once in a while one with the "Miserak" spelling. Difficult to search for, and often incorrectly described in additional to the spelling error, which makes it even more difficult.

Well, here is a close pic of one of those Brunswick Prestige Series Delrin inserts.
