6-6. 3 on the spot. shooting from your pocket. WWYD?

BTW, I really enjoyed those 'Animated Cartoons' someone did of You a while ago.

Especially the one where You Walk into House of Billiards in Santa Monica Billiards claiming/complaining You couldn't get a game!

When in reality, when You did show up there No One wanted to play for Only $10 or $20 a game!

Mr. Woo can verify this 'Reality'!

Is that all you've got?

The locals banding together to defend their local pride when Pilot Jim and Fatboy here both said it was the worst room for action, lol. While I was there One Pocket Richie Grenier came in. We'd met before and talked awhile, and I told him though I'd asked everyone in the room to play, including Shades, I couldn't get a game. And Richie looked around the room -- filled with players -- and said, "I don't know what's wrong with these guys."

BTW, how did that picture of you get at the bottom of the urinal at Chris's?

Like I said, No Nit $10-$20 action!

you guys that want to take an intentional should read the bolded part that a few times
JMHO
Larry, IMPO, anyone looking to take a 'Scratch' in that spot, doesn't want to Win!
$20 action is better than trying to pay off in fake Rolexes ;-)

Another Lie by Lou!

That should be a book title for You!

Never had Fake or Real!

Do You have 'Reading Comprehension' issues?

Sure, lol -- a joke everyone in the pool world up in Chicago was in on.

Listen 'CL' when You and that 'Bud' in chi-town are chatting it up tell him/her to take a photo, send it to You and post it here!

Make sure it has plenty of 'Piss' on it!

Actually, I had a copy of it but I trashed it a long time ago (maybe I'll get motivated to look for it).

What I was told, by more than one player, was that you were the most despised (dis-pissed, lol) player in Chicago shortly before you left town. and someone put your photo at the bottom of one of the pissers at Chris's so everyone could express their opinion of you. I'm told it got a lot of action with guys waiting in line to... well, express themselves. Personally, I cannot for the life of me, imagine why, lol.

But hey, Bill, all this is in good fun, right? We're having a good time bringing up memories, no?

Now, how was our little 1pocket/3C genius who, according to Freddy the Beard couldn't find his hole with an Indian guide, going to shoot those three balls on the spot again?

This thread is a WWYD!

I gave MPO on Your choice, You took it 'Personal' (as usual)!

I'm playing my option with 'More' skill than Yours!

jesus, get out of this thread you guys. pm each other if you want to argue. nobody here cares

Was he really unbeatable?
He played the Chicago squeeze(maybe he invented it-not sure) as good as anyone ever. I didn’t see Artie play when he was at his best, Brit’s fair to say he was as hard to beat as anyone on his time.

He had his own style. Was the dead opposite of the “power 1P” scott frost or Tony C shoot to make everything. Artie didn’t shoot at his hole often, he liked to keep people in the trap.

One time we were knocking them around. No action, he was just showing me a few things. He said “just stand there, don’t move” I was at the head rail. The CB just kept coming right to where I was standing, froze or close to it. After about 20 shots I asked if he was having fun-he just laughed. I was in a trap-no matter what I shot, he just put me right back on that rail. I never saw anything like it. I figured eventually he couldn’t get me back on the glue. I was wrong. He just laughed at me. I’m certain a better player than myself could have got out of the trap. At that time I was playing pretty good.

Honestly I think Artie would do things like that to wear guys down. He has all the patients in the world. He grinds wow does he grind.

I love Artie(I don’t use that word often in pool) he’s a complex yet simple person. He’s so gifted in his areas of excellence it’s super human. Yet he didn’t learn to drive until he was 46. He’s treacherous yet super nice at the same time. It’s complicated. One of my hero’s!

What was personal was you bringing up my match with JB which has nothing to do with your WWYD ;-)

Eric, in many ways you couldn't have chosen a better one. Artie's a genius in a few areas, I. Watched him play maybe 200 times, one of his strengths is, He can repeatedly execute controlling the CB in many different ways.

I could go on...

Was he really unbeatable?

Reputedly, Artie practically invented the grinder approach to 1pocket and would attempt to divine where very ball would land on any given shot.

HIs approach was, basically, to eliminate all variables. I watched him play a money match vs the late John Henderson at the DCC many years ago and Artie would just stare and stare and stare at the table while chalking his cue and then shoot something. He definitely was not a power 1pocket player in the mold of a Chohan, nor would he move a lot of balls like a Ronnie Allen.

I got worn out just watching him play for half an hour.

Eric, whatever Artie showed you, cherish it! Myself and maybe The ghost, Joey Gold, George Michaels and Larry Schwartz are the only ones left that saw Artie play on a regular basis in his prime, (1967-1980)! He played All games very well, including 3C for a Pool player. He didn't care for 9 ball, He didn't like the 'Luck Factor'! He was the Best I've ever seen getting out of the Break playing 1 pocket and I've watched Ronnie's game after the Break.

Lou saw Artie play when Pool was the last thing on His mind! and Artie was about 65-70 then.
There's only a few of us that know the Real reason why Artie even came out of retirement to play John, that's an interesting story for another time!

My favorite one pocket lessons came watching Cole play Harry. The true Masterpiece was his $25,000 score at a thousand per game. All night and till about noon Sunday. 🤷‍♂️
Cole and ...was it Cecil that played 7 games in 35 minutes? The breaker won in the second inning every rack racing to 4.
I can never stop learning the game makes it fun.
My morning fitness started with 4 strokes at my chosen answer. The first being woefully short and declared, "a warm up".

I did learn to concur with Bob on my first choice.
I feel smarter already and didn't have to eat any pills. 🤷‍♂️

Ooops almost forgot the "off topic" wink. Take any one of the 3 results and find the reply. 🤷‍♂️
Looks like a fun morning fitness task.
