Matchroom just announced another Peri Open in Vietnam in the first week of October. The event will precede the Hanoi Open for the third year in a row.
What is different this time is the prize fund. The Peri Open raised its total prize fund to $200,000, with $40,000 for the winner. Previously the tourney paid out $100,000 or so, with $25,000 for the winner.
The Hanoi Open will also pay out $200,000, with $40,000 for the winner.
Vietnam thus matches the U.S. with two big back-to-back events with top prizes of $40,000. (Florida and U.S. opens).
Hanoi is classified by MR as a major. Peri, like the Florida Open, is classified as a second-tier ranking event. Yet both ranking events will have 256 invitees, just like their "big" brothers.
A ton of ranking points available in August in the U.S. and in Vietnam in the first two weeks of October.

Now we get word the WPA has sanctioned a slew of events in Ho Chi Minh City in late September, giving players a chance at three tourneys in a row in Vietnam.

Still no word on dates for the World Pool Masters, World Cup of Pool or Spanish Open. Frazer had indicated last year or early this year that all three events were in the offing for 2025. Yet she later hedged when asked by Doggin It ... or one of the WNT commentators.
I have to assume there will be a WPM. MR is now promoting last year's WPM top matches on its Facebook page. That is usually, but not always, a sign that it will announce a date soon.
A Spanish Open and World Cup of Pool seem less likely, but who knows. A few years ago, the WCP was held days after the inaugural and only Spanish Open took place.
The 2023 Spanish Open had good crowds and a lively atmosphere, but it was too hot when it was held in mid-June.
Lo and behold, MR still has a big window open in the last three weeks of June and first week of July as well as the entire month of September.
