Jeddah has a population over 3 million. I would have thought that more than 100 people would show up for a WC. I wonder if there was any effort to get an audience. I attended one of the Matchroom/Cardiff championships in 2000, and a few dozen school kids were in the audience on what appeared to be a class outing, and there was generally good attendance otherwise in a town of 400k.

I am not worried about the crowd. The players have played in empty arenas before, but they know people are watching on TV and they know what is at stake.

big live crowds add to the pressure for sure. watch any of the cardiff or manila WC:s (or mosconi cup for that matter, although that's a different animal) to see this. of course prize money does this too, and i hope to see tension in the final

but it's a trade off this saudi thing. have it in vietnam or philippines with big crowds and small money or have it in saudi with small crowds and big money. easy choice imo
