What do I have here?

I picked this up cheap... and before all the "haters" chime in... I'm not looking for "pot of gold". I'm looking for information. It looks old. I know it's very plain. Not super valuable but I'd love to have opinions on the maker.

58 1/4" length
18.9 OZ
12.7mm ferrule
32.5mm Butt

The bumper doesn't come off. I'd like to see underneath but the screw is stripped and when I try to twist the rubber bumper with plyers, it appears frozen. I don't want to damage the bumper with any extra force than I've tried already. BUT it appears that the bumper fits "inside" a cavity on the butt. Not just added to the top, it seems to fit partially inside.

Any thoughts on this? (haters, please move on)

Thanks,

John

There isn't likely anything under the bumper of interest. And you could break the screw off if it's stuck.
I would just enjoy it. I have one like that with a wrap that is 60 inches. I think I got it for 8 bucks at a second hand shop.

I was thinking maybe Rich but never seen unmarked Mali built like this. Any other options that it might be?

Certainly does look like Rich Merry Widow.
Rich did have a decent supply of BRW.
Thank you for your knowledge... I can't say that it's a Rich. Even if it were, it's not fancy or valuable. BUT if any of you experts could help date it, that would be awesome. It's not valuable to me. Just going to sit in the close. It bought it for the "mystery" of finding out more about it. Any idea on date for this cue?

Yes. I bought it for the mystery. Any information that I get from you guys is obviously worth more than the stick. The stick is not valuable but whatever information I get is more valuable to me. (y)(y)(y)(y)

I know that this is not a very valuable cue stick. It's all academic just trying to put the pieces together of what this is? When I bought it, it reminded me of a Rich but it has no markings. Doesn't look like Mali to me, but you guys know more than me. Maybe, you said it was a cue maker that I never heard of? The information of maker/date is more valuable to me than the cue itself.

The screw head doesn’t look stripped. Does it just turn freely and not come out?
I got it out. But the rubber bumper won't move. Almost like super-glued in. Any more effort would require destroying the bumper. BUT... it (appears) that there is a cavity that the bumper is slotted into... (not just screwed on top of the butt cap, looks like it goes inside the butt cap if that helps?)

Just looking for information... the information is more valuable to me than the stick itself is. I know it's not "fancy" just wondering who the maker was? And what year/era/ was made? The stick is not valuable to me. I purchased it cheap with intention of "trying" to get more information.

I would guess a 70's cue. Possibly refinished as many had a decal on the butt sleeve.
The bumper may have bonded with the finish.
Braz, BRW are shortcuts for Brazilian Rosewood.
You can no longer get it due to how endangered it is.
That wood was highly prized, you might say "it doesn't grow on trees" ;)

I bought it cheap mostly so I could try to solve a mystery of who made it long ago (it's definitely very old). Didn't buy it for investment. Just to show you guys (experts) could tell me more about it. I have so many "expensive" cues. I'll never play with this. I bought it just for fun to find out more about it. It's not fancy or valuable. Just want to know more.

I knew it was at least "70's" but I've also seen 60's and even 50's like this. (look at the shaft joint)

It's old for sure. Wondered if anyone would say... "YES, I have the exact same cue! Here is all the info..." (that's the dream) It's not a one-off. So someone probably was more info on the stick and probably has one themself.

I don't think this is anything special. Wondered if someone else has the same stick and has more info. Obviously, it's basic stick and probably high-production at some point. Just don't know when? Where? by who?

The ferrule might be Ivory. I tried to take close pictures. But I'm not an ivory expert.
