Chua really has been a much needed breath of fresh air to pool over the last year or two.
Fun to watch, expresses passion and seems like an all round good egg.

The cue ball was definitely not reacting normally in the videos I saw. That being said, surely if there was a substance applied to the ball it would likely be there for subsequent matches either on the balls or transferred to the tables. So although it does look like something has nefarious occurred it does seem a little unfair to point fingers without direct proof of someone applying the substance.

Both are playing with the same cueball, whats the point of the discussion..?

Say you don't play in these things - we're all pro level right? There's that wall sized flow chart with the matches all assigned. It's a sports-betting map for your convenience. Players can check as well if only to see what kind of trek they face. Payouts are known and I'd almost bet a dime none of them are there to flip a coin at their chances. Even Billiards Digest in the 70s mentioned here and there, how players took on the field in groups. There was a buzz name for it I can't recall. Just teamwork right?

Your point is well taken but that would imply that the ''waxer'' is practising with the tampered cueball, plus since he could not do that in every match, would have to dial in on two cueballs...

This is a skill set anybody on the big tours can deal with. Not just the CB but whole sets, plus climate, climate control, etc...
The basic issue is the blind siding of the victim.

The dissertation effect is just the broadest application of clarity I can apply. I try to leave facts that anyone interested can pick up and use or question.

I wonder if any of you realize how many times you’ve played with waxed balls and didn’t know it? As Bob J pointed out in one of his comments, there are threads here at AZB where many allude that they use some kind of wax polish to clean their balls. I’ve seen it done in a lot of pool halls. I’ve seen a girl behind the counter at a local hall to me known for its action using Pledge furniture polish. When I asked her why she would do this she replied, “look how shiny they are”. Another place I play at now uses Meguiers Car wax to clean theirs and when I asked why, I got a similar response of how shiny they come out. Neither of these situations were premeditated attempts to garner an advantage in my mind. More like ignorance of the effect it has during play. It reduces throw, increases length of bank angles and a number of other effects. More insidiously, as the balls get used and the wax starts to diminish through play and handling, that effect on throw, length of banks, etc. is constantly changing with each shot.

There is a difference though if a pool hall is waxing the balls or a player in the tournament, which absolutely should be prevented.You can't just alter playing conditions the way ''you'' seem fit...
