The options above the message window are grayed out, and they cannot be clicked. I wonder if it is a software glitch. I can attached things, but I cannot insert or use different font or bold or anything above the message window.

I had the same issue yesterday. I was trying to paste a screenshot into the post like I normally do, and it would not paste. (no error message or anything). Then I noticed everything was also greyed out. Quitting the browser and restarting it seemed to fix it for me.

I quit Chrome browser, got out of it, came back in it, but I'm still grayed out. Maybe I will try it on a different browser and see if it works. Thanks for the tip.

Did you accidentally press the "toggle bb code" button on the far right by chance? That will grey them all out.

That did it. I'm back in the saddle again. Yay!

I get that “bb code” means the button to toggle square brackets - but what does the first “b” in “bb code” stand for?

pre whatever generation this BB is, there was VB which turns out to be Visual Basic. It's like HTML for tards like me who can just manage a keyboard. BBC must be the latest whizbang version of those tags. Or not.
