Shadiest Pool Hall

IVA's Club Longdale, Okla in the 70's. This little joint was known for weekend Big Money Pool Games after closing Hours. It would start about 3AM and run till noon the next day or so.Kind of a invite games. If you would call it that. If you had 5K and could show it, you were invited. Guns, Drugs, Women, and all you could stand in Action. Seen a Race to 10 for 50K in there once. You had better know some of the Locals or it could get unhealthy real quick. Long Time ago but I remember it well.
That's back when Bil Duggan was mayor and owner of a bar there, the Buckin Horse. All kinds of action out there during the oil $ days.

If memory serves me right, and that don't happen near as much as it used too. The guy in charge of the Club was a guy named Sessions, had a over weight Son that lived in a trailer next to the club. Was off the Highway about a mile on the way to Canton Lake.

The place that was the Buckin Horse is still there. Its called Chills Bar and Grill, right of 58 on 2490rd by the lake. Just a big metal building and a gravel lot. Duggan ran it during the 80's, he was also the mayor for a while til he moved to Enid. https://www.google.com/maps/search/...try=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDgxMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw==

so totally done with those places. cheap table rent doesn't make up for drug addicts, "youth gangs" and the other bs. i used to go to one place that was $1.5 /hour both snooker and pool. wasn't legit because they served without alcohol permit, also ignored the smoke ban (i smoked too so whatever), walls were veneer wood poorly tacked to studs, two knife incidents while i was there (one robbery and one just a knife fight), they almost never changed cloths and cared more for the slot machines than the tables.

at a certain age you're just done with it. at least i am. goes for most things, from car repair shops to restaurants. i'm not rich either, i just prioritize differently after 40.

Yep, as you get older you do tend to view the past through a filter that hides the bad. I still miss some of that though. Fat Randy's place wasn't rough as far as crime goes. Never saw a fight much less gun\knife play.

Well reviving dead post is funny, AZB use to be about Pool. NPR is where the traffic is, we need to talk more about Pool related stuff......IMHO
Do you recall Justin Collett from Tar? He felt AZ would become the Wikipedia of billiards….I think so too….research is important….people who are against digging up the past are probably okay with burning the libraries.

Justin Collett and TAR I believe went down in flames, he had good idea, but got little support to keep his dream alive. He gets credit for trying..

My ideas are just my ideas, and opinions.

Have made many observation over the years, most of the time I was correct, or close to being correct.

AZB is nothing like it was 10, or 15 years ago, it is not as good. JMHO

Just the fact that you express yourself much more lucidly has made AZ better.
