True, but this has not been a normal year for him. He has played less than usual since winning the European Open. He's won a handful of events, and got knocked out early from others.

Filler was sent to the loser's side early in the WPC. He barely won a match he should have lost to Gerson to get to the final 64. Then he was promptly knocked out by Lechner. I can't remember the last time Filler looked so off.

Nothing wrong with his game, but gotta keep the edge of the knife sharp.

I think Pinoys are not only good in POOL but they are a champion in other sports field like boxing (Pacquiao) bowling (Nepumoceno & Olivia "Bong" Coo). The only drawback in POOL was threes no Government Support.

Wnt.tv needs to take a page of the Masters golf tournament app's playbook. So easy to follow individual players and so comprehensive. I know, pool is not even close in terms of interest/revenue. But when they don't even have a cast option or a stand alone app, it seems the sport needs a more interactive fan experience. Hope you're listening Ms. Frazer

I often prefer dead air within good commentators bites, I do enjoy just the ball sounds, way better than a non stop announcer.

We have our first true upset, American Alex Bausch (Fargo 724) beating Mario He 9-8.


Bausch played well at the US Open last year, if I recall.

Mario He is in his early 30s. He doesn’t seem to be getting better. Nor is he living up to expectations.

I can’t find a single major tourney win under his name. Nor does it appear he have ever gotten to the semis of a big MR event.

His most notable claim are several World Cup of Pool titles with partner Albin Ouschan.

Still a formidable foe who cannot be taken lightly, but he’s never been able to get over the hump.

There are other players like that. He, Max Lechner, Skyler Woodward, Naoyuki Oi.

Oi has come close several times, including getting to this year's European Open final. Filler crushed him.

Wojciech Szewczyk hasn’t come truly close in a big WNT event, but he did win a European 9-ball title and a WPA World 10-ball title.

Alex Kazakis whitewashed SVB to win the 2021 World Pool Masters, but he has not shown up big in a Matchroom major.

Who will be the first of this group to win a big MR major? I’d go with Woodward or Szewczyk.

that match was sloppy on both ends. Bregu had the 7,8,9 to finish the match in pretty easy order. missed the 8 by a 1/4 diamond on straight shot.
 
Next big name to fall: Pijus Labutis to American Sergio Rivas. Rivas has a 745 Fargo and has been a good player for awhile now. Finished third in the Buffalo's One Pocket this year it seems.

Labutis has fallen off noticeably since the PLP.

I guess though, Had that been around previously,

And I thought he was going to capitalize on that and go to the next level, but like I said, it seems like noone outside of SVB is doing much in the big stages for 9 ball tournament pool. Getting top16s, top 8 in these fields is amazing, but I think we can all agree that winning the major title has alluded a lot of players besides SVB.

some guy in my pool hall said mario he was a contender, I scoffed at this notion. he is not in the contending class of pool players. he would probably be the 3-5th best american player though
