Shouting at the Pool Table!

I see why people shout at the pool table when they make a great shot!

But why in the hell would you shout, or hang your head and stare, or drop like your bones just deteriorated when you miss a shot? Provided you are playing to win against a friend or in a competitive match(if there is any difference.).

Venting. Some people like spooling up like race cars. Most want to avoid the stroke and heart attacks.

Expressing emotion.

Not unlike bolding text.

Every thought that enters your head doesn't have to be exposed on a open forum. Need to keep a at least few secrets. ;)

I had a side bet that you would start a thread if I missed a shot and shouted and stared. That's why I did it.

Emotional immaturity, over confidence and a higher opinion of one’s pool abilities than is warranted or justified are key
factors for becoming animated or shouting a over a missed shot. A celebratory reaction to a highly difficult shot is very
understandable. We see this happen in other sports endeavors. But reacting to one’s failure, and make no mistake that
a missed shot is because you failed, by shouting is juvenile and self embarrassing. But celebrating aloud over one’s success is quite normal and understandable because of one’s excitement and joy in the moment. Anguishing over it by being loud or just whining over your missed shots signals the player doesn’t have the mental stamina to be a top competitor. There is a rule in pool that every reader and pool player at every skill level should embrace wholeheartedly.

ALWAYS WIN WITH GRACE …….&……..ALWAYS LOSE WITH DIGNITY.

When a rider gets thrown off the bronco in the rodeo event, anguishing over the horse only makes you look weak. Just
get on another mount and do a better job but learn from landing on your ass earlier. If a boxer gets knocked out, accept
it. Pool is a endeavor where you are competing as much with yourself as your opponent. When you miss a shot, just remember that your opponent did nothing to make you fail. Nope, this is entirely on you so just learn from your failures
