Me: how did you get me to JFK in 20 mins!?!?if efren was born in new york and became a taxi driver, his navigation through traffic troubles in midtown would be legendary
Efren: I got lucky…

This was a match in the Philippines. Carlo and (I assume) Efren. This isn’t a Matchroom event or WPA.maha is shirking the thread now but the argument that modern players never saw tough conditions and don't have cue power is obviously untrue. that screenshot is from a match 3 years ago but i've seen even worse, with talcum all over the cloth and in piles on the rail. they still shoot lights out..
Definitely not saying thatif elvis took up pool instead of music and acting, he would have been one of the greats
if the javelin thrower who got the gold medal in the 500BC olympics was playing gorst in nine ball today it would be a close game
if einstein never became a physicist but took up straight pool, his pattern play would have been extraordinary
if efren was born in new york and became a taxi driver, his navigation through traffic troubles in midtown would be legendary
didnt say the top new players would not almost immediately adapt to the old conditions. just that its different and you dont need a strong stroke.
So what's your point??if elvis took up pool instead of music and acting, he would have been one of the greats

that it’s foolish and ridiculous to waste time and energy speculating about things that are unknowable and don’t matterSo what's your point??![]()
Pretty sure that's Carlo.View attachment 848970
tell me if you think this cloth looks brand new or room looks air conditioned and i will tell you who the guy chalking his cue is![]()
That was a joke dude.that it’s foolish and ridiculous to waste time and energy speculating about things that are unknowable and don’t matter
if johnny archer was born in taiwan in 2000 as one of the Ko brothers would he go on to become ‘player of the decade’ when he reached his prime?
Especially, from everywhere else in the world, except the United States. People from all over the world, at very young ages, kick the United States’ Butt, and it doesn’t have to be a big country.Don't think so. IMO the effect LD has had on pocketing balls is pretty small, far from what i'd call 'huge'. Players have just evolved/gotten better. Has happened in every game/sport. If all the pros had to use old-school solid maple tomorrow the level of play would not change much. They're just better players or more accurately there are MORE good players today than in the past.
It looks like someone was practicing jump and masse' shots on every square millimeter of that table.View attachment 848970

I once owned a GC 4 that was used in some major pro tournament - the pockets were 5 inch corners .Pool hall by me (Romines) has a crapload of gold crowns with 5 gallon bucket pockets we call em.
It's where I go to feel good about myself if I am in a slump. You can hit the long rail halfway up and still pocket a cut shot in the corner. You can do crazy caroms with confidence in 9ball. It's not impossible to miss, but it's damn sure hard if you're trying to pocket balls.
I might be able to make a ball on that monster!!I once owned a GC 4 that was used in some major pro tournament - the pockets were 5 inch corners .
