Parallel vs BHE vs tuck and roll vs "intuitive" English vs whatever else you use.

When i went to Derby in '07 i made it a point to watch how these cats spun whitey. Virtually all of them went thru the cb at an angle when applying spin. And they rarely use center-ball. They're spinnin it almost every shot. It was an eye opener to say the least. Just curious but just what does 'spin is speed' even mean??
When you say angle are you talking cue elevation?

The more you get the cue ball turning the more speed is created.

Don't confuse 'rotation' with speed. Gear effect does 'turn' the ball sure but spin is not really a 'speed' creator. Running english helps maintain speed but doesn't create speed.
I would really have to show you on a pool table.

I'll ask you the same question what position on your cue ball is "running english."

If you have to get the cue ball around 3 or 4 rails do you use spin or just brute force to create speed?

I'm not the one confused.
No i get it bro. Running english does cause the ball to widen/speed up. That's the only time spin of any kind does that. The cushion and the angle which the ball comes in at determines how much. Spin by itself is not creating the effect. If you shoot a cb straight at the rail with side spin it comes off in that direction but its not speeding up. The approach angle, and spin amount too, has a lot to do with how the ball reacts.

You are the only one talking about speeding up.

I am talking about speed in general to move the cue ball around the table.

Spin creates that speed more so than just brute force hit.

Can you not answer the question about where you hit the cue ball for running english?

See this is the reason vertical and side are two different words and the terms running and reverse english are used as fundamental principles.
running english will widen/speed up the cb. i agree totally, no denying that. the amount that this effect takes place depends a lot on the approach angle the cb is on. my point is that english by itself does not cause any increase in speed. the wider the angle the more the effect.

Good players aren't going to tell you otherwise unless they are selling you an aiming system lesson.
One of the worst things to ever happen to this game was people selling aiming systems. It threw too much dust in the air. Leave it to a pool player to figure out how to create money from nothing.
