I just learned of a new pool hall, in Downtown Austin TX.

I have been in Austin for about a year, and I had no idea there was a pool hall downtown.

It appears to be filled with Valley bar tables, which appear to be coin op. So, I guess this is much more of bar, with pool tables, then a pool hall.

And, it is probably just a college scene type of pool hall, but it would be cool to learn that players went there, and maybe they would start up some leagues, and maybe do tournaments.

Anyways, I assume this is a new place, because it only has 16 reviews on google maps so far.

Looks like a fun place!

Valley pool tables are an abomination to pool. Add to that coin ops and you got a recipe for folks that have zero interest in pool. They just want to play wack a mole, drink some booze and chase the girls around.

Doesn’t sound half bad!
nice little place to make a few extra bucks and impress some ladies
im in!

perfect spot to try out the ol pretty boy floyd routine in real life

Looks like fun to me. Way back when, my brother and I would go down to Shakespeare's and play the college kids for beers. And then check out some music. 6th street was a good time.
There was a time a few years back when a bunch of Frat-pledges showed up and wanted to play me and Craig for pitchers.
It was around 10:30 PM when we started. By 2:00, we had drunk as much beer as we could possibly hold, given each sitting table a pitcher of beer(or more) and not lost a single game. They (THEY) had no business playing for any amount of money--but--I suspect they did not learn their lesson.

Been there a million times before and after concerts, its a party house..., but every now and then you'll find some soft cheap action froma guy showing off for friends or a date and you can pick up a c-note from time to time if the you catch the right crowd.

Give it a few months and go hustle the idiots that think they can play. probably easy pickins. ;)

yeah, I played on 9 foot snooker tables, then went to college with a few bar boxes in the student center. I wiped the floor with the guys that thought I couldn't play a lick because I was from a small town. Those Valley pockets looked HUGE after coming off a snooker table....HUGE.

I won tons of money in places like that.
Strip clubs and disco bars with nude girl dancers usually had one pool table in them back in the day. That table was always going and the standard bet was a drink or a dollar. Yes, a dollar! But for a quarter you could get on that table and win $25-50 bucks if you didn't let a sucker beat you. I dried out a lot of places like that once upon a time and it was a thrill to come home with my pockets full of one dollar bills! That paid a weeks rent for me back then.

Back in the 60's, one of our older fraternity brothers had a "key" to the Playboy Club and we had our Christmas Party at the St. Louis Playboy Club. You could play pool with a "Bunny" for $1.50. Back then everything in the place was a buck and a half. She was a very good player, and hard to beat by the average college frat boy.

A few years later I had my very own Playboy "key" and would often go to the club in Chicago for a buck and a half buffet dinner. Good food and the price was hard to beat. I was getting a daily meal per diem of $9.75 those days.

Back to your regular programming, sorry for sidetracking the post.
