Tad Cue?

Recently saw this cue up for sale. Advertised as a Tad cue, but I've never seen another Tad cue that looks like this. Seller says its an early cue, no logo on the butt sleeve.
I'm not looking to purchase the cue, just wanting to expand my knowledge as I'm a fan of Tad cues.

I would not rule that out as a TAD - it very well could be. Do you have access to the cue? Does it have a number stamped on the cue under the bumper. Fred could ID the cue easily.

Unfortunately the cue is for sale in Japan so I have no access to it. The seller say it is a very early cue, approximately 50 years old, says it does have a serial number but will not disclose it.

i seeeeeeeeeeeriously doubt this is a TAD. Never seen one even remotely like this.
My thoughts exactly, and I know Tad from the very beginning.

No way that's right! Tad was making very plain cues back then.

This is a TAD that’s pretty close to the same age. Not similar to deep’s pic but I would not consider this typical of TAD’s work - not plain with no logo.

That cue is not 50 years old!
It could be that old. Started putting logo's on in '78 iirc. This cue has the long buttcap which was only used pre-78 so it is most likely 50+yrs old. I've gone back and looked at a BUNCH of TAD pics and nothing is even close to the cue the op has shown.

I guess it's possible. He did start making more exotic stuff in the early to mid 70's. It wasn't until later when his best work began to show up, with all the intricate designs.

Jay, the cue in the picture isn’t mine, but I have a TAD that’s identical except for the veneer colors - and mine’s about 50 years old. I’m the sole owner.

When TAD started making cues yes they were very plain but he started making cues in the early 60’s.

Jay, 50 years ago isn’t as far back as you realize - believe me, I know the feeling.
