Good Books to Learn From

@hclopez13

Definitely get it. I was ribbing CocoCowboy a bit. He hates it.
As far as your game, get in stroke first. You may not need any upgrades.

I feel I owe you an apology. I realize now that I should have made my point in a separate post, instead of writing everything in a reply to your comment. The initial part of my reply was meant as a response to your post, but I made the mistake of also addressing everybody that has made comments, good or bad, in the same reply.

Not everything I wrote applies as a response to you. Just in case. I appreciate all the feedback. 👍

Nothing of the sort taken. It's all good.

DO NOT let anybody tell you that the book "Pleasures Of Small Motions" will help you in your pool game.

That book is a waste of time.

Check out Capelle's books, Ray Martin's book on the Critical 99 Shots, and books/DVDs from Robert Byrne.

I have thought that too but kept it to myself. It was hyped back in the day. I do not recommend that book either.

To me, it might have a few good points, but it's hard to pick them out from all the BS information. It's almost like if the author can talk real far above your thinking process, it must be good rhetoric. That book is very confusing to me, and I feel it is a complete waste of time!

I own a number of books, but this is a really good one.

I wonder is anyone on here has read My Little Black Book of Pool Secrets at the back of More Pool Wars. I put stuff in there that has never been in any other pool book. If so, I'd like your opinion about that chapter.

My library really just evidence of a thirst for knowledge. Learning was my favorite challenge as I did well with it in a small school.
Leadership training at America's finest. (Far FAar above Annapolis OR West Point!)(SIR!!)(;
READING the Cards is more fun when you know them before they fall.
Politics involving nukes was my training which gave me an affinity for Fly Boy. He was a career tail gunner on a B-52.
2 weeks in a ready room an 2 weeks off was the B-52 duty I was directed to at the second summer training. A practice bomb run emulation of a uh apocalypse response with 1950s technology at its finest. The B-52 is an incredible bird. The flight of 9 on a 4 hour training flight out and over the grand canyon for a low level under the radar punch was practiced and of course putting on display to the satellite. An in flight refueling was performed. The down under navigation station was interesting. Never made it to the rear gunner station. That was Flyboys station as a Sargent.

i could not find my copy which i know i have
so i bought the kindle version to read it.....(y)
for a player with some experience there was alot of value in what was in there
some of the mental things have now been covered in books but the way you present them and your other advice i think was very beneficial and
i am glad to have read it as i am at a stage to benefit more from what you wrote

You need Play Great Pool by Mark Wilson. It's a book that will teach you how to teach yourself to play pool, and if you fully commit he has an in depth training program for you to try and complete. You will learn exactly how to stand, how to grip the cue, where your eyes should be looking during your practice strokes, etc. Video feedback is very important when teaching yourself, and it sounds like you've got that down already. Good luck.

Here's a preview of what you will learn:

Thank you for sharing that. I like his approach. Wilson is spot on IMO.
