The bracket for the Ultimate Pool USA Grand Finals Shootout has been posted! Strong field! Can't wait for this one.

strong field indeed

remind me again,
isn’t the grand finals shootout
the first round of a two week event?

Shouldn't Shane and Tyler be practising for the Mosconi?

Why are they playing on a kid's table?
So a pro should take a month off to hit balls around on a Rasson and forego earning money for a chance to win only 20k more in an exhibition the next month - IF his teammates play well? Makes zero sense. A pro plays for pay not knockers- why do you think you have a say in a pro’s schedule or earning capacity?

The event is played on bar tables, that is why.

I think it's only 6 days. They have probably over 10 events in that span. Some of it is centered around their league and some of them are open.

For league events they have 8-ball and 10-ball teams
3-man league tournament
League singles
Seniors teams?

For the Opens they have "the open"
women's open
junior's open
Doubles open
Mixed doubles open

And then for the invitation only they have the shootout and the "legends showdown"

will be cool to see nick varner play

Nick played in a tri-state bar table 8 ball tourney before Covid that has 2 other matches on youtube.

This is a very stacked field, it's only missing Earl, John Schmidt and Hohmann would be very interesting to watch too! Ultimate Pool makes more sense for a Senior's tour than big table 9 ball and much more viewer friendly than 1P with a built in audience!!

Anyone knows who fare better or has better record in this format-
English 8 ball players like Melling, Cousins or WNT/WPA players like SVB, Bergman ?

The Mosconi Cup is the most important event in pool.

Shane and Tyler havs both let down the USA many times in the past.

What happened to national pride?

Shane and Tyler should be with Johan practising their break and 9 ball fundamentals.

SVB has played in exactly two UP Open events. Tom Cousins won them both. Joe Prince has played in 6 Open events over here, made the final in 5 of them. I'll also add that at least three of the Euro players that I know (Tom Cousins included) borrow a cue when they get to the venue... They're better than we are. Not unbeatable, but they're the smart bet.

I can imagine someone like SVB is a moving target, like each event he plays in probably bumps his familiarity up quite a bit.

I think people did not appreciate this enough when, for example, Filler started playing Chohan in one pocket. Filler at the end of a long set with Tony was not the same one-pocket player as Filler at the start.
