No....just know wasted talent when I see it...He travels to play the Ultimate events. You have some kind hard-on for they guy just because he wouldn't come to fkng NY to rob your line-up of suckers. Sounds like he probably showed good judgement.

Jesus just won the River City Open, a WNT ranking event, and Matchroom Pool posted this: ""Latino heat takes over the World Nineball Tour."
Jesus did a Window's Open podcast and stated he was working on getting his visa in order so he could travel to various events.
So Oscar plays great in a "big money" match, but not as much in other matches? Not reassuring. If they were playing a big money nine ball match who are you taking? I wouldn’t be betting on a blowout but I would be on Oscar. I think it would be a good match to make actually.
You know, I completely forgot about Lukas. He has been traveling to a lot of these WNT events and has done well. Was he even considered or did Woodward just go with the people he felt the most comfortable with? And even though the environment may have been big for Lukas, it would have done well for his growth.I was hoping Lukas Verner would have had a shot since he placed well at a number of WNT events this year. I can understand picking Billy because of the environment. Going into that environment for the MC debut would be a big ask. I think if the MC was in the States this year, then I would have loved to see Lucas get the 5th spot.
Right there with ya brother. Agree 100%. Whatever floats-ur-boat.Don't get mad at me...I'm just asking this honestly. Do people still care about the Mosconi Cup? It was really fun and exciting early on but now, mehhh... Again, that is just me. If you love it - that is great. I'm probably in the minority.
For the longest of time throughout this year, Lukas was 3rd-5th in the Mosconi Cup rankings. I haven't looked yet, but I believe that if you look at Billy's and Lukas's records this year in WNT events, Lukas had the better year. You know, I completely forgot about Lukas. Max Eberle is not even in the top 30 in the US. That would put him at somewhere around #500 in the world. He has been playing very little pro pool the last 10 years.... a few years back when guys like Max Eberle were playing and showing great form to be in the team, he got snubbed for someone else. ...
I never said that. My only point was head to head, under the heat against Billy, I’m taking Oscar. Therefore, he would have been my pick this year for the Mosconi and last year. It probably doesn’t make a big difference one way or the other though. It’ll take a near miracle for Team USA to beat the European team anyways. Picking Oscar over Billy wouldn’t have changed thatSo Oscar plays great in a "big money" match, but not as much in other matches? Not reassuring.
In any case, the Mosconi matches are money matches. $40,000 to be on the winning team.
We only have talent for #1 and 2. We immediately drive off a cliff after that. Here's the top 10 Americans capable of Mosconi Cup pressure, in no particular order:
And here’s where the U.S. list gets thin quickly. There are promising juniors and regional killers, but few currently have the seasoning under global lights.
- Shane Van Boening
- Fedor Gorst
- Skyler Woodward
- Tyler Styer
- Oscar Dominguez
- Billy Thorpe
- Shane Wolford
- Chris Reinhold
- Hunter Lombardo
- Josh Roberts
For Europe, top 10 is almost too easy. In fact, Europe could field three full teams at Mosconi Cup level. Mosconi Cup contenders, in no particular order:
And worthy of mention are Kledio Kaci, Mickey Krause, Alex Kazakis, Denis Grabe, Sanjin Pehlivanović, Oliver Szolnoki, Aleksa Pecelj, Wiktor Zieliński, Konrad Juszczyszyn, Thorsten Hohmann, and Arseni Sevastyanov.
- Joshua Filler
- Francisco Sánchez Ruíz
- David Alcaide
- Jayson Shaw
- Albin Ouschan
- Niels Feijen
- Mario He
- Eklent Kaçi
- Moritz Neuhausen
- Max Lechner
- Pijus Labutis
Asia has the deepest talent pool of all. This list is stacked and still incomplete.
1. Johann Chua2. Aloysius Yapp3. Ko Pin-Yi4. Ko Ping-Chung5. Ko Pin-Chung6. Lo Ho Sum7. Michael Baoanan8. Chang Jung-Lin9. James Aranas10. AJ Manus11. Carlo Biado12. Bernie13. Dennis Orcullo (when he can travel)14. Lee Van Corteza15. Anton Raga16. Jeffrey De Luna17. And about 20 more whose names I cannot remember
Asia is the deepest, Europe is the most structured, and the U.S. has talent but not the depth. The U.S. has less junior structure, less national coaching culture, fewer competitive leagues feeding upwards, and less financial incentive to become a professional. The existing lot of U.S. pro-caliber players continues to shrink, not grow, especially when compared to Europe and Asia. Pull this thread up next November, and it will be the same song.
Yep, agree. If he's in a dechaine or ameer Ali situation where they make a good living its understandable.No....just know wasted talent when I see it...
I think I was Shaun Wilkes neighbor when he got snubbed after making the points. Takes your heart away when you put in the time and $$$$ and then get skipped. Has happened to quite a few...we wonder why we cant grow the sport in the USA. All points, all the timeMax Eberle is not even in the top 30 in the US. That would put him at somewhere around #500 in the world. He has been playing very little pro pool the last 10 years.
Careful; Team USA has won more lags than Team Europe in 4 of the last 12 years (including the last 2) and won the Cup just 1 of those 4.... Im betting on team USA if we can win the lags.
Lags are important! Getting the first jump out of the gate is an advantage. I always tell my partner to practice the lag on the table they will be shooting on beforehand to get a feel of the cloth and speed.Careful; Team USA has won more lags than Team Europe in 4 of the last 12 years (including the last 2) and won the Cup just 1 of those 4.

I was referring to the year he was traveling with the team and in the end got taken off for, IIRC, Justin Bergman.
