Big names missing from DCC

Yeah, that might be it, but there are almost 500 entries listed without those who are "in but unpaid." Add them all together and we are looking at the biggest ever field in the 9ball event.
Yeah, they say "max 500" but also 526 entries, so who knows what's up with that.

You may want to look into changing your flight out to Tuesday. ;)

On the other hand, there is a rumor that DigitalPool is handling the scheduling, and maybe that will save things.

They opened up the registration yesterday and from what I see there are only 5 open spots left in the 9 ball at this time and darn near every big player missing from the list. Am I missing something as to why they aren't going to the Derby this year?
Good. That means I have a chance!

Is that why they are races to 7 now?
That's not what the info on the website says:

The posted maximum number of players is 476 for 9-Ball Bank, 400 for One-Pocket, and 500 for 9-Ball.

This thread is about the DCC, but the International is much closer (starting in about 1 1/2 days) and I wish their lists of registered players had many more of the top guys. 9-Ball has just 30 from outside the US, lacking a large number of the top players, including all of the Mosconi Cup's Team Europe. One-Pocket has just 3 from outside the US. 14.1 has 6, but is missing many of the top 14.1 players. I don't see a list of Bigfoot entrants on the website, but something from a couple days ago says they were still 3 short of the 16 desired.

Shockingly weak field. A shame for Pat Fleming, who always produces superior events, offering a player and fan friendly tournament experience. Eyeballing the field, I see only about 13 of the world's 73 Fargo 800+ players in the field.

It is no surprise that Team Europe is preparing in Europe given that the Mosconi is in London, much as they prepared in America last year, when they all played in the International. I suspect that the members of the 2026 Team Europe will play in the 2026 International, but that's little consolation now.

More than a few on the forum had predicted that, after spending all of September and October in Asia, many of the top players would use November to rewind, and it seems they were right. Player burnout, which we've discussed on the forum, has become an issue in pro pool in 2025, and the International seems an undeserving victim, with most of the elite Europe-based and Asia-based pros sitting out the event.

It's a big opportunity for the sub-800 players, and I'm looking forward to seeing whether any of the young American players can make a statement.

This feels a bit like the recent Philippines Open, where most of the field was Filipino. No Filipinos, however, reached the final day of play. Here, most of the field is American, but there's no guarantee that one of them will win the title.

The International 9ball is the first WNT rankings event as far as qualifying for the 2026 Mosconi Cup. A year ago, Neuhuasen won silver and Labutis won bronze, and each used it as a springboard to becoming an automatic qualifier for the Team Europe we will see about three weeks from now.

LOL. With field size being taken so lightly, the real danger is that they might have to play until 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM on the second Saturday, which would get us back to having thoroughly exhausted players competing in the 9ball final.

If Digital Pool can bring the promptness of table assignments to the next level, it might save the day.

A FABLE IN THE MANNER OF AESOP

Once upon a time there was a small midwestern city which had many churches. It had several Protestant churches. It had two Catholic churches. It had a synagogue. For there were many people of different faiths in the city. But there were too few people of the Greek Orthodox and Russian Orthodox faith to have an Orthodox church. Over the decades more Orthodox believers moved to that city. Finally there were enough Orthodox people to build their own church out in the country. This church was successful. After a few years the pastor decided to have an Autumn festival. The first festival was wonderful. Orthodox people invited their friends who were not Orthodox, and so many people of different faiths came. There was homemade food. Things like baklava and other pastries of honey and nuts. People were surprised to find many of their friends there. They drank Greek coffee together and were happy. After that the festival came every year, and in the third year the new church added rides for children. In the fifth year there were bands. Then came food trucks. In the seventh year there was no place to park. In the eighth year there were no longer so many happy people drinking Greek coffee together.

MORAL, IN THE MANNER OF YOGI BERRA

Person One: “How come you don’t go to that restaurant over in Queens.”
Person Two: “Oh, nobody goes there anymore. It’s too busy.”

For Team Europe ... maybe no time zone shift. Practicing in Scotland?
Filler and Alcaide are on the entry list for the Little Monster Men's International Open (a Predator Pro Billiard Series 10-Ball event) in Valencia, Spain Nov. 27-Dec.2.

Really 😕??? Yeah, it's Predator (Filler) and in Spain (Alcaide), but still.
