This thread is about the DCC, but the International is much closer (starting in about 1 1/2 days) and I wish their lists of registered players had many more of the top guys. 9-Ball has just 30 from outside the US, lacking a large number of the top players, including all of the Mosconi Cup's Team Europe. One-Pocket has just 3 from outside the US. 14.1 has 6, but is missing many of the top 14.1 players. I don't see a list of Bigfoot entrants on the website, but something from a couple days ago says they were still 3 short of the 16 desired.
Shockingly weak field. A shame for Pat Fleming, who always produces superior events, offering a player and fan friendly tournament experience. Eyeballing the field, I see only about 13 of the world's 73 Fargo 800+ players in the field.
It is no surprise that Team Europe is preparing in Europe given that the Mosconi is in London, much as they prepared in America last year, when they all played in the International. I suspect that the members of the 2026 Team Europe will play in the 2026 International, but that's little consolation now.
More than a few on the forum had predicted that, after spending all of September and October in Asia, many of the top players would use November to rewind, and it seems they were right. Player burnout, which we've discussed on the forum, has become an issue in pro pool in 2025, and the International seems an undeserving victim, with most of the elite Europe-based and Asia-based pros sitting out the event.
It's a big opportunity for the sub-800 players, and I'm looking forward to seeing whether any of the young American players can make a statement.
This feels a bit like the recent Philippines Open, where most of the field was Filipino. No Filipinos, however, reached the final day of play. Here, most of the field is American, but there's no guarantee that one of them will win the title.
The International 9ball is the first WNT rankings event as far as qualifying for the 2026 Mosconi Cup. A year ago, Neuhuasen won silver and Labutis won bronze, and each used it as a springboard to becoming an automatic qualifier for the Team Europe we will see about three weeks from now.
