Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

Some rich AZ billiards fan can sure spare a million to set up a training fund for a bunch of talents? Grow them now.

I find it peculiar that pool is so ingrained in USA culture but no angel investor to be found? Joe Rogan?
Rich? Here? there aint no rich guy here reading forum posts man :D We're all poor spending our little money on pool cues...lets get real

Way too many matches decided by 1 missed 9 ball to say we don't have a chance. Am I happy, no, but we should still be playing right now.

I seem to remember being pleasantly surprised by Tyler in past MCs, don't know what was wrong with him this time, but it wasn't the norm.

If I were team USA, I'd be practicing with loud music, screaming, and people dropping shit until I didnt want to play without it. 🤷‍♂️ when next year rolls around they can encourage the crowd to yell no stop.

We lost, but we can be competitive. Didn't watch today's matches...yet

I'm used to seeing USA lose but man this year was horrific on another level. What can I say that hasnt already been said 100 times?

Team Europe looked human this year...the rolls seemed equal...the bottom line is that we (USA) missed a big opportunity to cash in.

Everyone played far below their speed on USA except SVB (who overperformed-last match he checked out-fair enough) and Billy. I would consider Fedor to easily be the LVP in terms of "underperformance". I might even go so far as to say he dogged it as many times as Tyler, just not on the 9 ball.

This is a ***TEAM*** event, and the key psychological difference is that when you are out there alone you have only yourself to blame for mistakes, and also only yourself to rely on, and bring your all from there. Team USA started with, presumably, little confidence in eachother and their confidence was fractured more with each heavy blow (self-inflicted) that was dealt. It was impressive in an odd way to see them continue to fight to get up 2-0 in almost every match after so many letdowns.

So where do we go from here? Diluting the event with North America or the Americas doesnt seem to pan out, as evidenced by the Reyes Cup atmosphere. At this point it seems the team has to change, for psychological reasons. The captaincy also has to change, with bringing Johan back as the most glaring option. Skylar doesn't really have the bandwidth to be captain and play his A game and it doesn't seem any other US player qualifies for the job.

When I was growing up pool was $.60 an hour. How could say a kid who has a real interest learn today. Unless his dad owns the pool room who could they afford to play say 5 or 7 hours a day. He would have to spend hundreds of dollars a week just o practice.

Other sports cost very little to learn to play like baseball, basket ball and so on. A kid can get good and have no money at all. Pool is not a poor man's sport.

Somebody to swoop in an lose money for the benefit of what?

That little thinking speaks volumes about what pool is.

He also has a US Open, Hanoi Open, and World Blackball champion. I personally think he’s kind of a borderline pick but those titles plus the Mosconi Cup showmanship/performances and the straight pool record some people value will end up getting him in.
If he doesn't deserve it, nobody does. Who has entertained us more over the last 10 years than him, Filler, Fedor and Shane?

I don't give a shit about FSR or Yapp, boring to watch.

He will be a hall of famer in my opinion forever

I agree he has a good chance of getting in, bolstered by his showmanship, the blackball championship and the 14.1 record, but among the upper echelon of his generation in the Hall of Fame discussion his resume of tournament wins is thin. He had those great years in 2016-2017 and since then, generally underperforming vs his talent.

We need Styer and Thorpe out for next year.

Bring in Bergman and Jesus.
I'd add Skyler to that list too. Then they could give somebody like Lukas Fracasso-Verner, Anthony Meglino, or Joven Bustamante a shot as well. They sure couldn't do any worse.
Heck, maybe next year, both teams should be made up of nothing but rookies with a veteran as a non-playing coach.

I think we can with our current team, they just need some - i done give a F pills about the pressure.

They showed they can get there if they just cross the finish line. 🤦‍♂️
