Review of the O.B. Spotter, The ULTIMATE Billiard Practice Machine.

I’m VERY proud of my invention, the O.B. Spotter, which just received some pretty incredible praise from one of the biggest billiards magazines in the United States, SPM Billiards Magazine.
I have a feeling I’m going to be quite busy in the coming days, weeks, months, years, decades… lol.

Check the link below starting at page 48. Cheers!

Je suis TRÈS fier de mon invention, le O.B. Spotter, qui vient d'avoir des éloges assez incroyables sur un des plus gros magazines de billard des États-Unis, Le SPM Billiards Magazine.

You can call me devil's advocate or debbie downer, i really don't care, but i see zero need for a 400dollar gadget to place balls while practicing. Been playing 45+yrs and i've never wished i had something to place OB's while practicing. Just my $.02 here but this looks like a solution in search of a problem.

I think a gadget like that can be useful if it actually gets the owner to practice -- maybe out of guilt for having bought it. I think most projection systems are the same. I don't need a computer and a projector to set up practice shots.

For me personally, it would actually be very useful because one of my favorite drills is a straight shot across the length of the table.

Having to place the object ball manually every time is very annoying, especially when you practice the shot 100 times a day.

That being said, I wouldn't pay $400 for this convenience. That's why I'm currently building something very similar myself as a DIY project, which will only cost a fraction of that.

i too practice full table straight shots 100’s of times a day, but setting the two balls up on white donut stickers isn’t annoying or very annoying

it gives me a moment to reflect on the last shot and prepare for the next

i would argue that the donuts are more precise in placing balls exactly where they were in terms of an engineered tool

that set up time can’t really be reduced nor does it need to be

and that any and all practice will unlock my true potential

let me add that i am old and cheap, probably not your target audience

congrats to you on making your idea into a realized product and i do hope it helps people and that you sell a lot of them

god knows the pool community needs new ideas beyond new tournament schedules, cloth and cue and ball color changes, and clever plots for movies

Nice web site.

The gadget, not so much. It never ceases to amaze me that people will do the algebra and figure they can make a buck...

You have rich friends who'll help you paper the sales?

Somebody just showed me this tool, seems as accurate as the donuts. It places the ball at the exact same spot each time. It's not automatic like op's tool though, you have to push it down with the cue.
