Derby City Newbie (be gentle)

someone in another thread mention DCC and TS not being WNT events. i think field strength, and in DCC's case the buyback, are why. i've been told by fairly reliable source that MR as never been a fan of the buyback. DCC and TS are both basically pro-ams. In TS's case much more am than pro. IMO neither will be WNT events anytime soon.

I think neither event uses the rules that the WNT uses.

Only difference is where the 1/9 go, right? I'm sure this figures in but i do know that MR has never liked the buyback deal. TS is just a bigger regional event, i don't think Zuglan cares to be WNT affiliated.

I msg'd Diamond about the WNT deal. Here is what i was told about 5minutes ago: the reason that DCC 9b is not a WNT event is because its not seeded. There may be other reasons but this is what Chad just told me. I know that MR doesn't like the buyback option either, don't know how much that factors in.

I read through the website and it seems I’ve already missed the opportunity to play or even get VIP seating at the tv table. So it looks like I’m stuck with general admission and wandering around

Any advice? Insight? Etc is greatly appreciated.
General admission works fine. Go to the registration desk (you can't fail to find this - it's by the entrance to the main hall). Pay $15 and you get a wristband. You can then go and watch any games you want all day long - including the tables and money room upstairs.

The main TV table (where they play Bigfoot for the first few days and the final rounds of the other games) has VIP seats. They have the name of the person who purchased them on the back. If you sit in an empty one just be ready to quickly and politely move out of it if the person turns up.

Unless you are the world's most fussy eater then the food is fine. Link showing what they have:

Prices will obviously be dearer than some place someone knows over the river in Louisville - but they aren't over-the-top extortionate. Domestic beer was around $4 a bottle last year. Again - not that outrageous nowadays.

Good poker room and sportsbook if you need a quick break from pool.

Tons of vendors selling anything from a 10 grand cue to a 25c piece of chalk. Blackburn cue maintenance are on site if you need anything doing.

Enjoy. It's a great event to see some of the world's greatest players out there in the wild.
