Thoughts ... Russian Kenny is out of prision

I don't think anyone really cares he went on vacation. He's an action junkie. He was betting pretty good 2 nights ago, 30 hrs straight;) "money was posted". That's all that anyone cares about, that its posted. He "owes" my buddy a couple grand from a couple years ago. Good luck getting that, my buddy. I had no problem betting him 2 nights ago, since it was posted. That's how pool works.

maybe it teaches his kid to be street smart and not a fool or ninnie as he grows up. that is more important to most of things to learn.

most of the good gamblers i know become very rich and had great families and lives.

and did what they wanted to do every day they woke up, instead of going to a job and saying yes sir or no sir.
What about the bad gamblers?

Username checks out once again 😂

Would you bet with him if it wasn't posted but you were getting the stone cold nuts?

Do you know Kenny?
No, you don't. I do and I know @iusedtoberich
Iusedtoberich has known Kenny well for probably 20 years. Their paths have crossed hundreds of times in the poolrooms in the tri state area around Philly in that time.

Iusedtoberich works daily at a profession. Everybody in his orbit likes him and he returns it in kind. He's more than you think.

What does any of that have to do with my question? I never attacked iusedtoberich's character, I like his posts and his game.

Username checks out was a joke from the previous page. Keep up man.

I cannot fault Cliff too much. We made money together when he was in his prime. He just couldn't hold onto his end.
i will lend to someone i made decent money with as well. but unless its tiny i want something to hold.
ive learnt my lesson there.

close friend we made a few hundred k together but i told him later on he was spending himself broke. he listened for awhile but few years later i got the phone call. gave him 3k and he gave it back soon wanted 2500 more so i did it again and said im not your banker here.
he has a wife where yours comes from and split for there as he thought he could live cheaper and survive there. never heard back.

I'll expand on it even more. We were betting 3000 (posted both sides) and I only had 1800 left in my pocket. I said to myself if I lose this set, I'm done (not play another set for the same amount, in other words, and wasn't worth lowering the bet). My buddy said why don't you just go on the wire for the remaining 1200. I said no way, because that would then give him ammunition to go on the wire with me at some future date.

All good, he was just joking around:) No issue, but thanks for looking out.

ps, I was truly sad when Kenny was about to be locked up. I saw him maybe 2 years ago at a tournament and he had told everyone he was waiting for sentencing and it wasn't looking good. We were all thinking it was going to be something like 10 years. We even had a man hug, and I told him I'd miss him.

We are not close buds, but rather long time pool hall acquaintances. His main room was an hour from mine, so we'd typically see each other at the bigger tournaments over the years. Still, when you know someone a long time, even if they are completely nuts, it's sad to think you might not see them again for a decade. He def makes a room fun!

Last I saw him he was playing Hatch at the Expo

bad gamblers go broke just like bad business people and those that cannot manage their money or their lives.
you cant help them as they wont help themselves.
A famous old time pool and card hustler (and a very successful one!) gave me some advice long ago that I'll share here. He told me it is not how well you manage your money. It is how well you manage yourself!

This little bit of advice came after he watched me blow 10,000 playing Blackjack at the Stardust (early 70's money). He took me aside and said "Do you see all these lights in here," sweeping his hand around the casino. I said yeah. He said, "You just paid their light bill!" BOOM, I never forgot the advice he gave me that day. Thank you Jack Perkins!

just grab their cue stick next time you see them and its yours now unless they pay.

your too easy jay.

besides if they don't pay you can tell them you might be the ref in their next big tournament then it will be too late.

nubby morgan hit me up and even kept it up after i said no. he is number three on the list.
i told him if he ever owed me money he would be called double nubby.
Good old Ernest "Nubby" Morgan, a true one armed pool player. He actually played pretty good, especially on bar boxes. I paid him $75 (his going rate) to do an exhibition in my poolroom and we put up a poster on the front window announcing it. Maybe fifty people showed up to watch him shoot trick shots and tell stories. He was pretty entertaining, like a discount Fats. After it was over he tried selling some cheap cues to my customers. I put a stop to that quick. Then he hustled one my better amateur players into a 9-Ball game. That really pissed me off and I told him if he wanted to gamble I would play him for the $75 I had just paid him. That finally got rid of him.
