I suspect Judd's were more like 8/1. Before they played, of course.

Sorry, I meant the true odds, not what a bookie gives up. The bookie has to make a living. They can't, generally, offer a fair bet.
 
Ooh, John Higgins plays Judd Trump tomorrow at 8 a.m. EST. I'll be sweating it, and I'm rooting for The Wizard of Wishaw.

Judd was a strong fav to win the game.

5/1 for Judd to win 6-2 was THE best odds you could get. Many other bookies were lower than 5/1.

Even with a very high percentage book then no way was 8/1 the true odds for him to win 6-2. Let's just split it and say that 13/2 was the true odds. Impossible to calculate for sure. It's live sport - not a roulette wheel.

Anyway - hopefully the original poster now understands why the commentators said what they did. A 6-2 win has various odds - it's often way more than a 5/1 shot.
