He picked up the 9b. They are apparently playing all ball fouls.

Ultimate conclusion after the argument was 9b goes down and BIH to Oscar.

Not sure whether the 9b should go down or respot. Otherwise clearly a foul.

with cb fouls you can pick an object ball from the table and wander off?

yes 9b goes down

yea this guy has archer beat in table pedantics. wonder what his lawn looks like.

his safety game has been every bit as good as oscars the last two sets though, not to mention position play where oscar has been lacking. and he comes with some great shots too

So the only comprehensive rule set that I know of that deals with CB fouls only is the CSI (BCA Pool League) rules.

The closest ruling I could find is below - although the CB is still on the table when the player picks up the wrong ball. Their ruling is the 9b goes back and it’s not a foul.

Under WPA rules (all ball fouls), it clearly is a foul. If he had knocked the ball into a pocket or off the table, it clearly stays down under WPA rules. But aside from that, when you just move a ball the moved ball stays where it is (no restoration option). (I am treating this as not a “deliberate foul” because clearly he didn’t intend to pick up the 9b).

I just don’t know what the rule is (or should be) with regarding to replacing or dropping the object ball. Given that the only time I’m aware of that balls are restored under WPA rules are balls dropping on their own after 5 seconds or outside interference, I do lean towards the ball going out of play in this situation (except if it’s the game ball, perhaps).

we've all had those brain farts. to then argue it's not a foul is just hilarious
The argument wasn't really about the foul, it was that the rail got involved; when Raulito picked up the 9, Oscar was rooting around in his bag w/his back turned. His guy there jumped up right away and called the foul - esto no es bueno in a gambling match! Of course all unnecessary as it was going to be clear what happened, he's still carrying the 9 ball around; but I guess you need to make a point. (6:34:30)

BTW, best watched after the fact w/liberal use of the YouTube skip-ahead-10-sec key (L) Also, you can turn on subtitles w/automatic xlation to English. Pretty cool. The announcer from Columbia was a lot of fun.

i'd rather not watch that shitshow again 🤣 i rewinded it when it happened. i guess that since the breaking bad guy was wrong to point out the (very obvious) foul, the solution is that 10 dominicans need to jump around the table and wave their arms for 5 minutes. i will say though, i have rarely watched a match with them where this mass arm flailing solution isn't applied at some point, so at least they're consistent
