Again, sounds like an Oscar problem. Why would that mean I have an Oscar problem? I didnt bet on the match, I don't give a shit who won(although id prefer it be Oscar) they both played on the same table, yes or no?

It’s not the table. If you watched the match and don’t understand why the environment was hostile to Oscar and not to his opponent, I can’t help you.

Those clowns go everywhere with him, what's so hard to understand about that.

If they play in California, they'll be right there with him.

Clearly, nobody can help you

Dunnski is all good....but one trashy dude. Just F bombs and screaming kid up at 3am....and people wonder why pool goes nowhere.

Feel sad for Oscar. The last "pro" with any gamble. WNT puritanized all of them. Oscar's game has certainly peaked and these lesser know guys who gamble nonstop are tough action. I guess it doesn't really matter so long as Oscar can find a stream of backers.

Must be nice betting other people's money! Had people bet with me many times, just never took a slice of their winnings.

Pool and gambling are almost history....
The highlight of the stream/commentating is when I could hear them clipping the kid’s toe nails in the background.

table was fine. oscar played sub-par, that's why he lost. he laid some great safeties, on himself. i rooted for oscar but that's how it went down

the homeroom clowns weren't that bad. raulito was slow, but oscar's no speed demon himself. i would be chocked if he blamed anything other than his own play

Making excuses after the fact is different than saying those factors don't matter.
If you go into a competition injured, they play a factor on the outcome.
If you know the "conditions" and play anyways you don't make excuses.
They're different things.

General impression I get is he's too conservative anyway. Frinstense: set 2, 19 to whatever Taulito (lol) was on, he has an out for 20 - he safes the first ball. That's all she wrote.
While this is not uncommon behavior, it's not very good strategy on a hot blooded gambolator.

Seriously? Buddy told me yrs ago one of THE toughest things to do in pool is playing a guy in his home spot, on equipment that he's super used to and a friendly home crowd. Home field advantage exists for sure.
I've played all over the country and honestly think I personally play better at other rooms.

I am a big believer in home field advantage which is one reason I went two or three years at a time without a gambling loss at my home field. The worse the playing conditions the bigger home field advantage is. I have mentioned many times bright light from the side in my home bar closest to my house. Didn't matter on most shots but it made balls appear the tiniest bit to the side of where they really were. When the tough shots came along that a person might miss anyway, that lighting came to my advantage. It wasn't anything huge but after playing there for weeks it was obvious that I didn't play as well there as other places. I started trying to figure out why. After I did I adjusted when my opponent didn't.

Playing on tables with decades old cloth torn and ripped was a major disadvantage on the road. The home town guy knew every inch of the table and used it to his advantage. Very loud hometown crowds could be rough when you were blindsided by thirty or forty people cheering your opponent on and jeering and hooting at your every miss also.

I played anyone even, on my homefield. That was plenty enough spot.

On day one Raulito was not stalling by cleaning the table and wiping down his shaft after every shot.
He clearly realized he couldn't beat Oscar on skill and devised a plan to take Oscar out of his game.
It worked, to the detriment of the game.
I'm gonna have to agree with you. I've never seen anything like it, in my 25 years of playing and watching pool. Was it illegal or against the rules? Not at all. Did it work? Absolutely

So why are you speaking for everyone else? You said you were a 600...

Just because YOU'VE played better at other rooms doesn't mean home field advantage doesn't exist...

sure, but no matter if he felt sick or whatever, his play was sub-par. he's a 790 something player but kept snookering himself

You'll get no argument from me on that.
I was just agreeing with you that he would make no excuses.
He agreed to play, regardless of the circumstances, figured he would get the best of it, and just didn't for whatever reason.
Just didn't have it this match.

I get that to some extent. There is a certain freedom that comes from not knowing anyone and no one knowing you. But to deny home field advantage as a whole is flat out bananas.

Oscar had no business playing in the room he was playing in. At this point in his life, he shouldn’t be so desperate for a game to make the one he did. The sketchy underground casino/laundry mat venue was one of the more prime examples of home field advantage I’ve seen in a loonnnnggggg time. Tough to fade…. Even for a savvy experienced gambler like Oscar.
