Please, for the love of God, stop snowing!

I just drove to town to pick up a few things for supper and it's storming up on the mtns ! It may hit here only time will tell the wind seems to be moving the storm clouds our direction .

Ha ha , well Mitch my suggestion is avoid all the states north of you for at least 3 - 5 more months with Montana and Canada even longer as I've Sen it snow in June here in the Treasure State !

Sidewalk crews are gonna have fun tonight... Looking at -30 upto -40 windchills. Snow is falling now, probably another inch or so.

This is the kind of winter that makes people change careers. Hasn't been a lot of snow volume wise, but our schedule has basically been plow, sleep, plow, sleep. You start to feel inhuman after a while.

-20°f windchill yesterday but still got our birds.

I live in what the Indians and early mtn men called the snow hole ! Back in the winter of 2017 & 2018 , before the end of it we received over 180" of snow along with winds up to and over 70 mph so many coulee's were blown shut with snow and the mountain snow pack was fantastic all the stock ponds , reservoirs were filled to capacity as were all the lakes .

I drove my snowmobile right out of our driveway and down the county roads , you had to be very careful where you drove it and you had best pay attention or you could bury you're snowmobile ! I did a coup!e times ! Ha ha

This winter we've had a little bit of snow but winter is just getting started , oh and All I've got to do is get my snowmobile started and it'll quit snowing !
Not gonna lie. I had to Google "Coulee" as I thought the ladies' bits were frozen shut. That would be time for me to leave....

Fifth day in a row here in SE Wisconsin having to go out and plow, with the sixth day tomorrow. Just getting ready to head out the door to go do a cleanup round this evening before tomorrows storm.

Hoping I can somehow manage to stay awake at league tomorrow. Did I mention there's been a run / shortage on salt? Anyone got salt? I'd do unspeakable things for salt right now...

I am going through pool withdrawals worst of all. Haven't played, watched, or heard of any pool in 6 days. That's like an eternity for me!
You live in Wisconsin and you're whining about snow? If anything we need more snow so that winter sports like snowmobiling can be enjoyed. Might be time to move South. Let it snow, let it snow!

must have a good dog or two to get 8 birds when its cold as they hold.
Out again today for a couple hours. 19° with a 25 to 35 mph wind. After we had our 9 birds walked out in a 15 minute blizzard.

Lots of wild flushes but had a spot with 3 dogs in 5 yards all pointing different birds. Got 1 rooster. Then 2 dogs went on point again and my friend missed the bird that erupted at his feet. I told him I was embarrassed for him.

I like Wisconsin, and I like snow. I don't like the non-stop snow showers that produce so little snow you can't even sled on it, or make a snowman with it, but it's just enough on the pavement every 12-14 hours that I have to rally the crews to go push the dust and salt.

I love plowing in general, but doing 12-14 hours of anything for days straight without doing anything else, with very little human contact gets old. If I wanted this, I'd have been a commercial saturation diver!

It'll calm down here soon, this seems to happen every 3-5 years where we get slammed every other week.

I keep telling myself during stretches like this - "This is why you need to make your custom cue side-hustle count! It could be your ticket out of this blue-collar, red knuckle hellscape".

I'm up in Theresa and finally we have just enough snow to go move around the driveway but I don't plan to move a single flake as long as it stays this cold and windy, it will melt when summer gets here.

Condolences to those living in the most frigid regions. Here In New York City, we got about 4" of snow a few weeks ago and it was the biggest snowstorm in four years. I actually enjoy winter and I like snow, but it's the frigid temperatures that I can do without. Still, I don't think the mercury has dropped below 20 degrees yet this winter, and it rarely does where I live.

Oddly enough, though it is further south than New York City, Louisville, where I'm heading on Friday for the Derby, is often significantly colder.

At least there is plenty of ice for fishing. It is freeeeeeeaaaaaaakkkkinnnnnngggggg cold out there today. Yikes.

Today we had a reprieve from the snow, but it won't be for long. Another petty amount tomorrow evening into Wednesday. Just enough again to waste time and salt.

Today instead of sleeping, I spent my time fixing a couple shattered bump stomps on some plows, a shattered cutting edge, and two shattered tail lights on trucks. It's incredible how much easier stuff is to break when it's sub zero. You can hit the same curb 500 times going 5mph when it's 25F out and nothing will break, plow trips like it should and no harm is done. When it's -5* and you hit that curb going 5mph, you're gonna possibly need a new cutting edge, curb guard, bump stop, A-frame, coupler, you name it.

A slight miracle happened and I got a call that I could pick up a small load of salt. It's only 5 tons, but it'll get me through the week if I ration it. Should be enough time for a few barges to get unloaded and out into the market (hopefully).

Gettin the ol pig 7.3l power stroke started to go get that salt was a different story.. After about 2 hours, 2 cans of ether, a tin bushel basket full of hot coals under the oil pan, and some begging / pleading, I got the big bitch started. Never even got warmed up enough to defrost the windshield after driving it for an hour. Gotta love those stone age diesels..

if your plowing your raking in the bucks unless you got yearly contracts.
and a plugin block heater, or a tarp and a space heater under it the night before on a timer, solves most starting issues at any temp.
