Peanutbutter... Mystery Cue...

I showed the pics to John and he said it definitely wasn't one of his... The rings forward of the grip were something he said he never did.

Thank you for doing that, I really appreciate it!

Now we're back to square one!

Another collector friend suggested Tice but I don't know his cues either.

I definitely prefer the linen wrap over leather but please update us when you get the cue back. Id love to see the difference after the refinish.

I hate the feel of new (modern) linen, it lacks the tack and compactness of the old school Cortland or even vintage braided dacron.

I know of one maker that has a stash of the really good old stuff but he will only use it on select cues and it's only green spec.

So sadly I naturally head toward leather wrap vs new linen.

Thought I would put a leather wrap on it, not sure of style yet maybe ostrich.
My vote for leather would be either smooth black pigskin or lightly textured black leather. I tend to like the simpler wraps, though. The more exotic stuff tends to take away from the rest of the cue in my eyes. Now... If it was a jet black ebony or maple plain jane, that's where the more exotic stuff looks nice. Again, just my opinion.
