Is it me or are there significantly fewer pros at derby this year, what am I missing ?
What happened to him?Yeah, there are quite a lot less, but it seems to bounce around from year to year. I'm guessing many are tired of the bs scheduling, grind, location and time of year, and close to other events on the calendar.
For what it is worth, there was a comment by Upstate Al on the recent Turning Stone stream about a bunch of players, I believe he said Euros, not going to attend Derby something to the affect of because "what happened to Shaw", or as he says it "Shore". LOL They were talking about how a lot were not going to attend.

If you mean rigged upstairs gambling, hookers and people getting robbed you're right. People tend to overlook some of the shit that went on at the EW hotel. Its never going back to how it was. That has nothing to do with why fewer pros play. If they would seed the 9b and ditch the buyback they'd get WAY more touring pros. Its become sort of a antiquated event.Until they get it going like at old venue it will never be the same.
They play inside.Did some of the pros stay away because of the heavy snow?
I've got about 10 inches here in SW Indiana.
Thanks for the chuckle. But for anyone who doesn't know, getting to and from that venue is kind of a pain in the ass because it's not in town. It's a little ways outside of town on a road that follows the river. Add the snow we've got and are still getting, and it becomes downright treacherous. They play inside.
If they seeded the 9ball it would be a pro event, thats not what derby is about. You'd also get about 300 less players per event. If you mean rigged upstairs gambling, hookers and people getting robbed you're right. I dunno, I pray before every shotChaos in US Politics? Wtf does that bs have to do with pool. Politics and religion have never had anything to do with pool.
Huh? The last things it needs or wants.I suggested awhile back, to increase play.... haul in 64 Blue label 7'.
true but would in time bring in a whole slew of new players as they develop.Huh? The last things it needs or wants.
they have no problem packing the placetrue but would in time bring in a whole slew of new players as they develop.

Brother, as much as I miss it, you're absolutely right about it never going back to the way it was. There was a sweet spot where it was a nice mix of a tournament and debauchery. But it was getting a little too crazy there towards the end. There were too many people showing up who had zero interest in the pool side of it and their only intent was to literally rob someone. If you mean rigged upstairs gambling, hookers and people getting robbed you're right.
